The same. Bill has volunteered for many years with the vertical contests. He
also was a very active caver in the east and was involved in the VPI caving
club and the mapping of Roppel Cave in Kentucky. There were a number of folks
in the east that were very glad to see him move to Texas as he won the
speleolympics at the Old Timers Reunion for many years. He used the gear he won
to support his caving habit.

(Bill, this email is in response to the announcement I made on Texascavers
regarding your award of Fellow of the NSS.

Is this the Bill Stephens that was instrumental in helping with the
cable-ladder contest at TCR back in the mid to late 80's ? I think that guy
also won lots of cable-ladder contest, and taught lots of kids and newbie
cavers how to properly climb a cable-ladder.
