Roger, thanks for alerting us to Mallory's accident and relaying the family's messages. Not knowing what's going to happen is excruciating for
her family and all of her friends. Like everyone else, I am wishing with all my heart for her to recover fully. Her physical and mental
strength will help her a lot in this fight.

It appears that the accident was covered on KPRC Channel 2 News at 6:00 PM
(18:00) Houston. Very disturbing to watch. The driver was arrested for leaving
the scene of an accident and DUI.

Thanks, Don. That is very near where I live, and I drive it all the time.
There are a lot of bars in that area. I didn't realize until now that they
were not in a car when the accident occurred. I would be willing to bet they
were taken to Hermann Memorial main hospital in the medical center.

The Trauma Center for Memorial Hermann is the one located in the medical center
on Fannin/Main, and also the closest of the Hermann Memorials to her accident
location - literally minutes away. That is where most all life flight patients
are taken. I will be there tomorrow for an MRI and will see what I can find
out. I realize that I won't be able to see Mal, but perhaps I can speak with
her family. I will let y'all know late tomorrow afternoon what I learn.

I'm sure the family will let us know which Memorial Hermann when the time is
appropriate. Right now she will be in the highly controlled environment of an
Intensive Care Unit and will remain so as long as she is in a medically-induced
coma.

As for her unconscious state, I've heard from a cousin of hers that it is a
medically-induced coma. I've had first hand experience of being in one of
those, and I know they are done to manage treatment of one kind or another, so
we shouldn't be unduly concerned that she is not conscious - but we should
continue to keep thinking positively.

Mallory is our family and we all wish her recovery. Please, everyone send good
thoughts her way right now. I know Roger will keep us up to date when he has
more information. We cant really do much right now, this is a time of waiting
for healing before we can know much more. If you want to do something, post
your good wishes here and we can all come together with our love for such a
wonderful friend.

Her family, at this point, do not want visitors according to her brother Caleb.
But the family fully appreciate that cavers are very concerned about Mallory.
Caleb and her uncle will pass on any news, but for now we need to wait and let
the treatments take their course.

No worries. I will just ask the nurses for an update. They are very cool
about this sort of thing. I hate to admit how much time I have spent in that
hospital in my lifetime, either for myself (multiple knee surgeries), or while
dealing with my father's terminal brain tumor where he was in ICU for a long
time. I know how the game works, and I will totally respect the family's
wishes.
