I've just had occasion to see the NSS membership forms on the web.
See, e.g.,
https://secure.caves.org/nssapps/renew.shtml
Since I'm a life member, I hadn't been keeping up with such things.
What's with the silliness of _requiring_ phone number, e-mail address,
and middle initial for NSS membership? (Some people don't even _have_
an e-mail address. I suppose they could just enter a phony one.) For
that matter, why inquire male/female? None of that information is
necessary or really any of the NSS's business, although of course
_some_ of it might be useful.-- Mixon
