For starters, why not try the FIND A LOCAL GROTTO link on the
NSS home page (caves.org). Click on Maryland to get a list of all
area grottos, with their websites and contacts. You'll find there are
lots of choices, with lots of hard-charging cavers!

Better yet, come to the Virginia Region Fall Meeting this weekend
and meet a bunch of 'em! It's about a 4-hour drive for you, but
promises a lot of fun. See http://www.fallvar2012.com/.

Or if that's too short-notice, you could go to the NSS Search >
Member Search page and input your zip code or town to see what
cavers live nearby, then use your Members Manual to find their
contact info.

Welcome to the land of many great caves, Lissa!

Alex

Hey all,
Just thought I'd ask on the off chance any of you know someone in a
grotto in the Baltimore Maryland area? We just moved here from
Texas and are missing caving !

Thanks,

Hi all,

The Texas Cave Management Association will be having a Member's Meeting on October 21, 2012 at 9:30 am. This is the Sunday of TCR and the meeting will be at Paradise Canyon on the Medina River. The exact location for the meeting is to be determined. It will be at the same location as the TSA Meeting.

I hope to see everyone there to learn about what TCMA has been up to.

Allan

I'm producing a film about caving as a sport with a heavy emphasis on safety
and conservation. This is not a reality show or a dramatic narrative, it is
intended to be an honest appraisal of what caving (and cavers) are really like.
Part of the film will be shot in Texas with local cavers, while other sections
will cover the scenes overseas.

If you are interested in participating, either in front of the camera, behind
the camera or as a reviewer, please let me know. This project is expected to
take several months to complete.

KIWI SINK Dig--The winch still has not arrived and the barrels are
still full on the bottom of the pit. I am going to declare the main
pit digging cancelled for this Sunday 23 September since we don't have
any empty barrels to fill. But crawlway digging down in the cave is
available to a few hardy souls who want to get down and get muddy.
The next scheduled dig is 7 October and I promise to have those
barrels empty by then if we have to hire elephants to haul the loads
out.

Newly-published study about the social and economic values associated with public wildland caves and their closure. This report focuses on the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, but it relevant in all caving regions.
