I believe this would be a good trip for all of the 2011 TSA Officers to attend.

All in favor?

Hydrogeology Tour of France

Darcy, Springs, and Aqueducts

June 6-13, 2011

Trip Overview

Immerse yourself in the water wonders of France. Explore five cities of France
famous for water: Paris, Dijon, Vaucluse, Uzès, and Nîmes. See the water supply
system Henry Darcy built in Dijon in 1840. Visit the site of the Darcy’s Law
experiments and stroll the city where he lived. Tour nearby Bourbilly castle,
inhabited by his descendants. Experience the wonder of the Fontaine de
Vaucluse, France’s largest spring. Walk under the Pont du Gard, one of UNESCO’S
World Heritage sites. Delve into the hydrogeology, culture, and history of
Uzes, Nimes, and Avignon, the latter also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy
the culinary pleasures of Paris, Dijon, and the south of France while spending
your nights in four star hotels. A representative of the French tour company
Planète Incentive will accompany the group, and Patricia Bobeck, English
translator of Darcy’s Public Fountains of the City of Dijon, will be the
scientific guide. This tour will delight hydrogeologists and non-scientists
alike!

•Trace Henry Darcy’s water supply system and see the remaining fountains. Visit
Place Darcy and the Porte Guillaume and Montmusard reservoirs.

•Travel to the Rosoir spring and trace the 12.7 km aqueduct that carried the
spring water to Dijon.

•Visit the site of the Darcy’s Law experiments.

•Tour the Darcy sites in Paris including the Musée des Egouts (the Sewer
Museum).

•Visit the town of Uzès, the location of the spring the Romans diverted via
aqueduct to Nîmes.

•Walk under the Roman aqueduct at the Pont du Gard and see the famous fountain
at the end of the aqueduct in Nîmes.

•Stand in front of - and be dwarfed by - the Fontaine de Vaucluse, the largest
spring in France.

•Explore the historic city of Avignon and celebrate the last night of the tour
with banquet.
