Today I happened to pick up the August 19 issue of The Rocksprings Record and Texas Mohair Weekly (Serving Edwards County Since 1893). On the front page is a short article titled "Movie costume donated to Rocksprings Visitors Center". Mrs. Donna Foster Graham donated to the Devil's Sinkhole Society the "beautifully designed cowgirl outfit" that she wore in the classic 1950 movie The Devil's Sinkhole, produced by her father Fred Foster. There's a B&W photo of the outfit in the newspaper.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie, a brief background. In 1994 Mr. Foster's son Steven, who had the only remaining copy of the film, contacted Bill Steele, who arranged for the film to be shown for the first time in many years to a huge audience of cavers at the NSS convention in Brackettville. Primarily through Bill's efforts, the original 53 minute film was transferred to video and a DVD produced by the NSS in 2005, with an additional 24 minutes of interviews with Bill and Steven.

Just below the first article is a short notice: "Devil's Sinkhole bat observation tours continue despite some cave closures".
