Ride Sharing: a couple of people have started a ride-sharing thread
on the NSS Cave Chat, under the Caving and General Discussion and Questions
Forum: "Need a Ride to Vermont?" If you're not already a
registered Cave Chat user, go to the NSS Home Page:
http://www.caves.org and click on the Caving Forum (Cave Chat)
link. You can read postings, but won't be able to make your own
unless you register, a simple process. So, save gas and money - share the ride!
The Caver Coop, formerly known as Consignment Sales, will be
operating as usual at the Convention. Sell your treasures - pay for your trip!
The Coop provides people or groups who have a small quantity of
merchandise to sell with a convenient way to do so without having to
keep shop all week. Merchandise may include publications, caving
equipment, T-shirts, artwork, etc. Please bring your items to the
Coop, which will be located next to the NSS Bookstore in the vendor hall.
There is no charge for the space, but 20% of the gross sales goes to
the Convention, or only 10%, if you work at the Coop at least 4
hours during the Convention. For full details, contact the Caver

Some updates and reminders about JSS:
Help wanted: more volunteers to chaperone the JSS Cavers Corner
(especially evenings) and some of the trips. We also need some
volunteer drivers for our rental vans and your own cars, if you can
take a few passengers.
If you are planning to go on the Monday JSS trip to Stowe and
Waterbury (including Smuggler's Notch, Alpine Slide, and Ben &
Jerry's) please let Jane Youngbaer know ahead of time, no later than
Sunday Aug. 1.
We now have a full schedule of Science for Early Birds. The 30-40
minute presentations will take place at 9:15 on Monday, and 8:30
Tuesday-Friday, as follows:
Monday - Art Palmer, Geology
Tuesday - Hazel Barton, "Extreme Scientist"
Wednesday - Fred Grady, Paleontology
Thursday - Jim Kennedy, Bats
Friday - Carol Zokaites, Project Underground activities

Project Underground
If you are interested in Project Underground on Wed, Aug. 4, 9-2,
please sign up NOW. The instructor, Carol Zokaites, needs a count
ahead of time in order to ship books and materials for the workshop.
This is an excellent, fun, and informative workshop for anyone who
works with kids. You will learn hands-on experiments, games, and
other activities about caves, karst, and cave creatures.
