This is a review of an old flashlight, but the price has dropped to the
point that it is now worthy of mention.
I found the flashlight below at a store called Tuesday Morning, for $ 19.99
plus tax.

It is the best constructed flashlight that I have ever owned.
It has a good light pattern. It is rugged. It is very
water-resistant.
It is easy to turn on and off.

I would have taken this flashlight caving 20 years ago, had I had one.
It is certainly good enough to keep in the glove box, or to use around camp
when you are car camping, and great for emergencys around the house.
If you prefer "C" size batteries, then it is a great flashlight.
Here are some of my negative comments about the flashlight:
1. May not be waterproof enough for diving a sump.
( I may do a water dunk test on this one, just to see )
2. Can't dim the light to save battery power, which in my
opinion is a must for caving.
3. Too heavy to carry in your cave pack, unless you really
need a bright flashlight.
4. Too large to mount on the side of a helmet.
5. There are flashlights with slightly better light pattern,
but they are much more expensive, and bulkier.
I expect this flashlight will still work many years from now.
That being said, if I were walking thru a Martian lava tube, I would mount
one of these on each side of my helmet. So I hereby certify this
flashlight
with a Martian Caving Gear approval rating ( MCG ) - the first such
designation.
Disclaimer: I only tested it for 5 minutes.
Cheers,
David Locklear
