I agree with Bill. This is probably some confusion with Jacob's Well. I maintain the TSS files for Comal County, which include Honey Creek Cave, and there is no mention of such a thing in any of the records. When I first met the owner in 1976, he told me the cave had been owned by his family for over a century. In the years since with many cavers like me, Bill, Kurt Menking, and others working closely with Johnny, mention of a fatality never came up. It has been my experience that if an accident has ever occurred at a cave, then the owner makes sure you know about it and so you can demonstrate the knowledge and skill to assure that it won't happen again. I've no doubt that if someone had died in Honey Creek, Johnny would have let us know.
