Are you ready for the $ 800 LED headlamp?

It only puts out 830 lumens.

Lupine's web-site claims it has even brighter versions that
go up to 1400 lumens. Lupine also claims that have
a special lens you can order that puts out a slightly wider
angle throw of light.

Lupine claims their LED lights have made HID lights
obsolete.

If I were going to spend $ 800 on a headlamp, it would have
to do more that just throw light for a couple of hours.

It would have to be integrated into the design of a carbon-graphite
helmet, where the wires, battery source are sandwiched between
the layers of graphite. It would have to be waterproof to
10 feet. The Lupine shaped lens would be flush with a molded
shape protruding from the front of the helmet. The heat sink would
be similar to the design on the new motherboards with copper tubes
radiating along the side of the helmet. Sandwiched in the
layers of graphite would also be other hi-tech systems like
avalanche beacon, data storage, audio port, bluetooth communicator,
satelite receiver, etc.
