Rick,
No offence meant but I have to believe that many of the "cavers" are on
this list for the social aspect, for caving information and
opportunities. Some enjoy the OT subjects, educational information,
current topics in the news as well as the irreverence to all things that
some of us spew.
As for caving opportunities, I wish that I could get away for the
numerous work weekends which include caving at many of the state's
premier parks and natural areas. I think that opportunities abound.
I have a special interest in Goodenough Spring at the bottom of Lake
Amistad. Have you dived there?
Fritz

I tried to start a site for likeminded individuals and no one really
took to
it, I will let the site expire end of this month.

So I stayed on the mailing lists, and I put up with what I call "cave
spam"
which is a constant bombardment of email most of which has nothing to do
with caving, and those that do have to do with caving few of those have
anything to do with caving opportunities. The opportunities that do
come up
are usually in Mexico. When I ask about caves I am told "join a grotto"
I
did, and I joined mailing lists. I've asked for cave information, I get
told, join lists, join grottos, no one gives it, understandable I
understand
conservation and punks that destroy, it's a big deal in cave diving or
spring diving if that's your preference as well and have no beef, but if
I
have to sit and go through the slaughter of my inbox, I'm no longer
interested.

I'm a cave diver been doing it for years, love caves, in WV I didn't
have to
go through any of this I just went caving, figured I'd like to do some
TX
caving. Found out how thick politics are and I have to tell you my job
is
enough, I don't need it in my hobbies as well. I didn't join any lists
or
grotto's to be a social butterfly, a lot of the caving thing appears to
be a
social thing more than a caving thing, I've even people admit that in
emails. That's cool, if that's peoples things, hey this is America
enjoy,
it's just not for me I'm in it for the caves.

I'm still on my local grotto list as I don't get spammed by it and I'll
continue to look for caving opportunities there.

I don't care if everyone wants to talk about religion, politics,
computers
etc, I'm not bitter, did not request to be unsubscribed to rebel or
protest
or whatever, this just isn't for me.

Corky,
I will not opt out for fear of missing something worthwhile, maybe even
caving related. I do use my delete key on some subjects or on a
repetitive caver (myself excluded). Don't leave as we need you, assuming
that you are a dues paying member. As an alternative you could start
your own web site for like-minded individuals.

Ditto! What is the unsubscribe link? I cannot believe a person from the
grotto I helped create could spew such venom and hate. My daughter
wonders why I will not take her to the meetings. I can show her one of
the reasons now in black and white. You do not have to believe in God to

follow the teachings of Jesus. Especially the part about everyone
getting along with each other. Goodbye to all my friends and
acquaintances, and good riddance to the rest of you.
Cave Softly,
Corky
