I am not sure if anyone pointed this out in the recycling discussion, 
but I think one of the most important effects of recycling is 
conservation of virgin resources. For example, I'm not exactly sure 
how aluminum is produced, but most likely some mountain is ground up

actually it is the island of Jamaica which is being hollowed from the 
inside out, then transported to landfills all over the world via the 
increasingly obese recipients of the sugar flavored water contained 
therein.
