For you speleo-history buffs, there's a new book coming out this month that
contains a report on what may have been the first exploration of Phantom Lake
Cave in the 1850s. General Zenas R. Bliss was stationed at Fort Davis at
the time and recalls the efforts of a couple officers to explore the cave with
candles propped up on their canteens as they swam into the cave.
