I am predicting that in less than 10 years, you are going to see at least one
caver on your trip wearing a helmet-cam.

And in the future, video quality will improve, memory will improve, etc.

For example, in stores now is Sony's new memory chip, the M2, ( for
their new cell phones ) that is 512 megs and is tiny.

[ the web-site claims they go up to 4 gig ? ]

In addition, they will probably discover ways to compress the video better,
so that future cavers can make longer mpegs or something similar. ( I
believe they have already found a way to make .jpegs smaller and better
resolution ).

Popular Science is reporting new battery research. Imagine if you could
have a helmet that was 2 layers of carbon-fiber and sandwiched between was a
layer of some sort of flexible battery material ( see ORB ), sealed
between the layers and fully water-proof.

Is this your next caving helmet ?

It is not hard to find a carbon-fiber motorcycle helmet.
