I just want to give everyone a hearty shove in the direction of the Willow City
Loop that Jaqui mentions here. The wildflowers are AWESOME this year, and this
is an incredible, easily drivable, and potently beautiful place to see them.
I'd give yourself about an hour to drive the whole loop, if I remember
correctly. My memory is fogged by the memory of the FLOWERS and buzzing
critters and breath-taking hill country scenery.

Also, strap yourselves in for the Auction. and don't forget your folding money!
There are some really cool things to bid on, especially if you like to get
outta dodge and soar with the birds....art! caver stuff! valuable services from
your fellow cavers! publication sets! groovy stuff! stuff you want!

My last plea met with some real success! Keep it coming! I know you have
something fabulous and you haven't told me about it yet!
see ya there,

Kara

Subject: [Texascavers] Spring Convention Update

Send off that tax return and celebrate by heading to Albert for TSA Spring
Convention!

You don't have to pack much-there's water on site and there are two
restaurants within 6 miles, and many more if you want to drive a bit
farther. In Fredericksburg you'll find both H.E.B. and Walmart. You'll want
to bring what you like to drink, but there are wineries galore all along Hwy
290, all with tasting rooms.

If you bring your dog, bring the leash. Bags for picking up after will be on
site. Dogs won't be able to enjoy the presentations with their owners, as
the buildings are dog-free, but

Saturday presentations will start at a leisurely 9:00 a.m.

and there will be a lunch period long enough to walk the dogs or visit the
local eateries.

There's a designated greenspace with both trees and a grassy area, perfect
for frisbees, dog walks, and enjoying the quiet beauty of the Hill Country.

Between Saturday's presentations and dinner there will be a brief TSA
meeting. After dinner we will have a salon presentation and awards and the
TCMA Auction

(contact Kara if you're bringing stuff).

Sunday morning events: TCMA fundraiser breakfast and TCMA members' meeting.

In the Area:

The Old Tunnel Wildlife Area is within 25 miles: The bats aren't back yet,
but the trail is open and quite nice. 200 yards from the viewing platform is
the Alamo Springs store and café.

If you are interested in wildflower drive/bike rides, check out the Willow
City Loop at:
http://www.lnstar.com/mall/txtrails/wildflowers/willowcityloop.htm

To the east, there's the LBJ Ranch, and if you head west a bit, Wildseed
Farms is fun to visit.

See you in Albert!
