The 4th EuroSpeleo Protection Symposium
Caves & Karst - Protection and Conservation under EU Law
will be held in the Yorkshire Dales (Great Britain)
from the 15th to the 16th of August 2016

http://www.eurospeleo.uk

Aims of the symposium
The Symposium will provide a platform for scientists, speleologists and
authorities active in the domain of cave and karst protection.

The Symposium will inform about caves and karst relevant European Union (EU)
legislation and focus on the existing habitat directive.

The EU Habitat Directive mentions caves as habitat and these have to be
monitored in the member states. Speleological organizations are more or less
involved in this process. Beside an overview about the current status of
speleological involvement, problems will be discussed and best practices shared.

Therefore a questionnaire will be sent out to the delegates of the European
Speleological Federation (FSE), prior to the symposium, to inquire about
responsibilities and level of involvement. We kindly ask delegates to a return
information about the procedures in their country.

Tuesday, 16th of August 2016: 09:00-18:00.
