I guess Wednesday, today, is the last day to let you know. I won't know until
Friday. Maybe a next time.

Folks,

The Bexar Grotto has a monthly dig project at the LaChance Sinkhole on Sunday,
August 28 at 9 am. Location is near New Braunfels off of Rt 306, west. There is
a limit to the number of folks the property and sinkholes can handle so I need
a head county. We’re going to limit the number of folks attending to about 20.
I need to have a head count on who is going since the grotto has donated some
funds to cover a lunch/picnic after the dig. The LaChance’s want to know so
they can also plan. There will be digging and some socializing going on. (Yes,
some of my caver friends need to be socialized).

We’re looking for strong back - weak mind types but I also have some positions
open for folks that would like to try their hand at management – maybe Rob and
Jess will bring their Cat O Nine Tails as a motivator.

We’ll also have swimming in the Guadalupe River nearby after the event..

Here is what you need to know. – Please read carefully.

There are four sinkholes on the property. Two digs are in caves and two are
surface digs.

This is a good opportunity to help them with improving the drainage of their
property as the sinkholes now back up and flood their house during heavy rains.
These are some of the larger sinkholes in the area and drain more than a square
mile. There is lots of potential there.

Depth to groundwater is approximately 250 feet so we have a ways to go to reach
the water table. The location most likely drains to San Marcos Springs so there
is a lot of potential. The sinkholes were taking water this Sunday so they may
be a bit muddy.

We’ll start digging around 9 am and knock off around 1 pm for a picnic. The
grotto has donated some funds for burger and sausage. Please consider bringing
a dish.

After eating, we’ll head over to the river to clean up some and go swimming.
They have access to a private beach along the river.

Bring helmet, light, boots, gloves, drinks, short shovel, spud bar, 5 gallon
buckets, rock shaving equipment, etc. if you have it.

I need to know on Wednesday whether you want to go. There is also a limit to
the size of the group. When you let me know if you’re going, I’ll send you the
address.

Thanks,
