Bennett, that sounds like a great activity for the TSA Convention if and when you have the time to do it.

Grapevine knot, barrel knot, alpine butterfly loop, bowline, bowline on a bight...there are so many knots used in caving, it can be confusing.  However, you can do almost everything in caving with one knot--the figure 8.

This Bexar Grotto meeting, Bennett is doing an encore presentation of his much sought-after knot workshop, but this presentation focuses exclusively on the figure 8 and its variations, like figure 8 on a bight, double figure 8, directional figure 8, and figure 9.  If you know your knots, here is a great opportunity to show off and teach others in the process.  If you don't know your knots, here's a great opportunity to learn.  We'll teach you how to identify the figure 8 and its variants, how to tie them yourself, and when and where to use them.  This workshop is a great precursor for those wanting to get into vertical caving, so be sure to join us!

Practice rope will be provided, but quantities are limited, so if you have a 10-foot piece of climbing rope or thick accessory cord, please bring it.
