The first part of this message may only be useful peripherally. The last part
will be directly useful to you and perhaps may other Texas cavers.

About 25 years ago the manager of the Annie Riggs Museum in Fort Stockton was
quite knowledgeable about the spring. I'm drawing a blank on her name but she
is no longer there as I understand. However, the museum may have information
about the spring. Also, it is not unusual for some old-timer to serve the
unofficial role of city historian in small towns. If Fort Stockton has one, the
museum staff would know who it is.

There is a short write-up in The Caves and Karst of Texas that describes the
cave which underlies the spring, in case you haven't already seen it.

Lastly, TSS has a bibliographic database called TexBib that anyone can download
from the TSS website. You can then search on "Comanche Spring" and you'll get a
list of all publications TSS knows about that mention the spring (or any cave,
spring, author, topic, etc. involving Texas).

Subject: [Texascavers] History of Comanche Springs

Howdy Texas Cavers,

My coworker is having a summer intern write a Technical Note on the history of
Comanche Springs. She's placed a call out for all articles related to Comanche
Springs and thought I should ask the caving community to contribute. Email me
at andrea.crosk...@twdb.texas.gov if you have or know of material that could
help her write the report. Also, I'll let you know when the report is done and
how to get a copy.

Cavingly,
Andrea
