Hello cavers! The BBS/SA (Speleological Abstracts) is looking for collaborators who would be interested in abstracting the caving newsletters/magazines published in the US. The task consists of filling out a standard form for each article/feature of the newsletter into a database. Each entry describes briefly the content of the article (the abstract), assigns it a location, an author, a category, the newsletter's name, and that's about it. I have an example of a full abstract below.
The BBS/SA is a worldwide bibliography that allows you to find articles on cave exploration, geology, biology, conservation, paleontology, rescue, you name it, published anywhere in the world. But in order for all this precious information to be available, it requires dedicated collaborators in each country. At the present time, the US does not have any. If you're already reading the NSS News, or other regional newsletters, please consider joining the team! For more info on how to become a collaborator, please contact: Anamaria Häuselmann at a...@speleo.ch (copied on this message) Thanks so much, and please forward to other mailing lists, especially beyond our local area. Yvonne Droms Example: Location: North America: Virginia/West Virginia Newsletter: The West Virginia Caver, Vol. 25, no 4 (August 2007): page 9 Authors: MINTON, Mark; DROMS, Yvonne Title: Hellhole Trip Report 19 May 2007 - Low Bore Abstract: Account of an exploration trip into Hellhole in Pendleton County, West Virginia. After some digging, various tight leads were checked, some passage was found, and a good lead remains. _______________________________________________ Texascavers mailing list | http://texascavers.com Texascavers@texascavers.com | Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/texascavers@texascavers.com/ http://lists.texascavers.com/listinfo/texascavers
