As I commented in François' bug report, the problem seems to have the same grounds as this one: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?36037.
I think the problem is that the QInputMethod does not / does capture events it should /should not, and I see no easy solution, other than changing the shortcuts according to user input methods.
