Ok.  Thanks for the info.  I have to think more about viable options.

I've looked at the results of the PDF import and they are so munged that
it looks like a lot less work to start with the plain text export and go
through applying styles.

I'd like to add export of ODF to the wishlist, if there is one.  I don't
need it often but it does save a lot of time when I do need it.
