Dear Sir

Thank you for forwarding the Three Magics of Microsoft.

On searching for the explantations I come across the following:

How the Magic works?

The following explanations are given in Wikipedia and other sources:

1.Nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer

which can be named as "CON".

Explanation:

In MS-DOS, several special "device files" were available to aid in
performing certain tasks, such as clearing the screen or deleting extraneous
output from a program. In order to maintain backwards-compatibility, all
versions of Windows up to and including Windows Vista will refuse to allow
you to create a file with these "reserved" device file names. The following
are some of the file names are reserved:

   - CON
   - PRN
   - AUX
   - NUL

CON, incidentally, was a device file used to capture whatever was printed
onscreen.
2. For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Noticed the weird bug? No one can explain!
Explanation:
 rom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

*Bush hid the facts* (sometimes also *this app can break*) is the common
name for a bug <http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Software_bug> present in
the function IsTextUnicode of Windows NT
3.5<http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Windows_NT_3.5>
 and its successors, including Windows
XP<http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Windows_XP>,
which causes a file of text encoded in
Windows-1252<http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Windows-1252>
or similar encoding to be interpreted by applications that use it (such as
Notepad) as if it were UTF-16LE <http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/UTF-16>,
resulting in mojibake <http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Mojibake>. When
"bush hid the facts" is put in a new Notepad document and saved, closed, and
reopened, the words "畢桳栠摩琠敨映捡獴" appear instead.

While "Bush hid the facts" is the sentence that is most commonly presented
on the Internet to induce the error, it does not exclusively occur with that
phrase. The bug can be triggered by many sentences with alphabetic
characters and spaces in a particular order (4-space-3-space-3-space-5),
(4-space-5-space-3-space-5), and (1-space-4-space-3-space-3) as well as
other combinations that can be parsed into valid (if nonsensical) Chinese
characters in Unicode.

The bug occurs when the
ANSI<http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/American_National_Standards_Institute>
string is passed to the Win32 charset
detection<http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Charset_detection>
function IsTextUnicode with no other characters. Because of this bug,
IsTextUnicode will return TRUE, which means that applications that uses it
will incorrectly interpret it as UTF-16LE. For example, if you load a text
file with the string into a text editor that uses IsTextUnicode, the text
will be displayed as nine {4-3-3-5}, ten {4-5-3-5}, or seven {1-4-3-3} Chinese
characters <http://in.mg50.mail.yahoo.com/wiki/Chinese_characters>—or
rectangles if the language pack has not been installed. To retrieve the
original text using Notepad, bring up the "Open a file" dialog box, select
the file, select *ANSI* in the "Encoding" list box, and click Open.

3.Again this is something funny and can't be explained? At Microsoft the
whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself?

Open Microsoft Word and type (don’t copy paste, just type)

 =rand (200, 99)

 And then press ENTER
 And see the magic?..!
Explanation:

It is a Word function (undocumented in the online Help but documented in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base <http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1>)
that can be useful in certain circumstances.
The rand function

The Microsoft Knowledge Base article How to Insert Sample Text into a
Document in Word <http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=212251>explains the
use and syntax of the function: “to quickly insert sample text into a
document.” To do this, type *=rand()* in the document where you want the
text to appear, and then press *Enter*.

*Note:* The rand function works only if you have “Replace text as you type”
enabled in *Tools | AutoCorrect Options*. It will also not work if the
insertion point is immediately after a page or column break.

In *Word 2003 and earlier* (English versions), the inserted text is that
hardy perennial: “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog,” which
contains every letter in the English alphabet. As the KB article explains,
different language versions of Word use different text.

*In Word 2007* =rand() produces several paragraphs of text telling you
useful things about galleries, Quick Styles, and themes in Word 2007. If you
want quick brown foxes instead, you can use the syntax =rand.old().

Pls try the magic urself ::

MAGIC #1

An Indian found that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer
which can be named as "CON". This is something funny and inexplicable? At
Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened!
TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A "CON" FOLDER

 MAGIC #2

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Noticed the weird bug? No one can explain!

 MAGIC #3

whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself?

Open Microsoft Word and type (don’t copy paste, just type)
