Q1         Should we eat cashew nuts raw or roasted?

A1          Elakkana RP May 22, 2020-Dietitian at Qua Nutrition -Signature
Nutrition Clinic (2016–present)

Cashews are a good source of zinc, magnesium, potassium and iron. Ithelps in
improving appetite, focus and attention when taken in the correctquantity.
Excessconsumption of cashews might lead to adverse health effects.

In most of the shops we get only roasted cashews. We don’t really get tosee raw
cashews or cashews with shell.

Raw cashews are unsafe as they contain poison Ivy and Sumac. Shell of the
cashews contains an oil which onconsumption leads to itchy skin and skin rashes.

On roasting the nuts all the toxic compounds andallergic oil gets destroyed.
Henceit is always good and safe to have roasted cashews when compared to
rawcashews.

Q2         Why is Nandi the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva?

A2          Sunitha Parapatla April 17, 2020 Devotee of God Shiva and aHome
maker

Foremost, to become a devotee to Shiva is possible only by His grace. Nandi
will be the greatest ever devotee of Shiva since his devotionis selfless.

Nandi is born only to do service to his Lord Shiva.

Nandi is not only mount or Vehicle for Shiva , but Shiva's great devotee, gate
keeper of Kailash, head of the Shiva ganas and best friend too, sinceShiva
treats all equally and never differentiates among His devotees.

Nandi when knew from his father that he is shortlived, did rigorous penance for
Shiva. Shiva impressed with Nandi's penance asked to wishfor any boon, then
Nandi says “ Hey Lord, I want to be withyou forever on Kailash, and want to
carry you, so bless me that I would be yourmount “ .Then Shiva granted Nandi's
wish.

When Devas and Asuras did Samudra Manthan, churning of the ocean forcelestial
nectar. Foremost, poison oozed out of theOcean and Shiva drank the poison to
save the Universe, and along with Shiva, itis believed that Nandi too drank the
poison since he couldn't see his Lorddrinking poison. But nothing happened to
Nandi since hesurrendered to Shiva completely.

Then Shiva pleased with Nandi gave a boon that, whoever visits Shiv temple
first have to pray toNandi, please Him, and see Shivling through Nandi’s horns
( the spacebetween his two horns) and tell the purpose of their visit or wishes
in Nandi’sears, since it will for sure reach Shiva.

According to few Puranas , Nandi has bull/Ox faceand a Human body , symbolizing
that of Shiva ( as ShanKara and Pashupathi ). This means that Nandi can take
the form of an Oxor any human form as per his wish. When Shiva wants to travel,
then Nandi takesan Ox form and Shiva chose Ox as His mount since it is a hard
working animaland is never lazy.

The entire Universe resides in the Mahadev, and when Ravana lifted theKailash
mountain, Shiva just pressed His toe and Ravana’s hands get crushedunder the
mountain. So we can imagine the strength of the Mahadev. But Nandi can carry
Shiva on him, because Nandi has surrendered toShiva, sobecause of Nandi's
selfless devotion, he can carry the immense powerful Mahadev!!

Nandi is born only to do service to Shiva, so he doesn't want to misseven one
second of seeing Shiva, so he always sits facing Shiva so that hedoesn't miss
even a blink of an eye moment of seeing, worshipping and doingservice to his
Lord, Shiva.

Nandi’s life is an example that, with selfless devotion everything
ispossible.Om Nandeshwaraya Namaha

Om Swetha_vrishabha Vahanaya Namaha, I bow to you Shiva who rides thewhite Ox
Nandi

Q3         Does cracking one's neck and spine cause any damage?

A3          Apollo Hospitals January 4 Lived in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Neck cracking, also known as neck popping, is a common phenomenon thathappens
due to unnatural neck movements. Most people do a ritual neckpopping after a
haircut or head massage. The professionals generally handle it,but it is
important to know that it can cause harm to your neck ligaments orbones.

There are three main reasons why joints, and especially the neck, willcrack:

● Arthritis: If a joint isaffected by arthritis (thecartilage may lose its
smoothness). As the joint surface gets coarser, it canmake a noise when it
moves.

● Escaping gas: There is afluid in our joints that help tissueand bones to move
smoothly together. This fluid has oxygen, carbon dioxide andnitrogen. In you
neck, there are paired joints called facet joints that run upand down each
side. Each facet joint has a capsule around it that is filledwith gas and fluid.

When joint capsule is stretched, gas is released rapidly in the form ofbubbles.
This release of gas makes a cracking and popping sound. The process isalso
referred to as “cavitation” or “boiling.”

● Movement: When joint moves,it also affects the ligamentsand tendons that are
fibers connecting the muscles and bones in the joint. If atendon moves somewhat
slightly out of place, it makes a snapping noise when itreturns to its original
position.

Similarly, ligaments can tighten when a joint is moved and can make acracking
sound. This will often occur in the ankle or knee.

Q4         Why did Lord Krishna eat mud?

A4          Ajita Barik Updated November 3, 2019-Bengaluru, Karnataka,India · A
lone traveller across thecountry.

When Lord Vishnu as Krishna Avatar appeared on earth, all Gods andGoddesses
wanted to see hisantics as a baby. This was one of the rarest events on Earth.
Whenhis father Vasudev took him in a basket and carried him to Gokul at
midnight,it was raining cats and dogs. Sheshnaag (the serpent on which Lord
Vishnusleeps) came and became his umbrella. However when Vasudev was trying to
crossriver Yamuna, she was in full swing- the water was trying to reach
tillVasudev's head on which Krishna was in! In fact, this was because Yamuna-
thedaughter of Himalaya and the Devi herself wanted to touch Krishna's feet.
WhenKrishna finally put his feet into the water and Yamuna was satisfied with
hisblessings, she suddenly gave way to Vasudev!

So that's what most people know about Yamuna- the element Water. (Picshows how
the river Yamuna gave way and how Sheshnaag became the umbrellaprotecting the
child Krishna from rains.).

So now let's come to the one in the question: Maa Dharitri or Mother Earth -
the one who holdseverything on her lap.

Krishna was Yashoda's adorable baby and since he was the prince of Gokulbesides
being utterly beautiful, he was always in the arms of someone or theother. Well
how many people don't melt over cute babies and this one wasespecially
extremely cute! Loved overflowed from everyone around him!

However one fine day, Yashodafinally took him with her to go out and kept him
directly on Earth while doingsome work. Mother Earth appearedin her Human form
and thanked Him for putting his feet on her bosom for thefirst time he appeared
as a human. She as usual humbly told him that she isjust made up of stones and
pebbles and mud, she didn't have anything great tooffer to the Lord of the
Universe. What could she even offer as prasad (food)to Him? Admiring her
devotionand humbleness, Krishna smiled at her saying that the one that holds
everybeing on her lap without judging anyone, loving them so much can't be
justpebbles or mud! This mud itself had the the taste of Amruta
(nectar).Krishna ate mud as a respect to the offering of the goddess of Earth-
MaaBhudevi! And of course we know what happened next: He showed the entire
Cosmosto his mother Yashoda who panicked because of his mud eating!!!

That's Krishna. A humble offering: be it mud of Mother Earth or 3 handfulsof
rice of Sudama or 1 Tulsi leaf of Rukmini or 1 grain of rice of Panchali
isenough to fill his stomach! Well he never ate the 56 bhog given by
arrogantDuryodhan although! Love has always been enough for Him! Happy
Janmashtami tomy Kanha!

Q6         Will chanting Om Namah Shivaya and Om Namo Narayana havedifferent
benefits?

A6          Dev Sharma UpdatedFebruary 19, 2020-Studied at Bachelor of
Engineering in Civil Engineering

Both are very powerful andhighly Auspicious beeja akshara mantras.

First let me introduce you the Great Mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” (AumNam-ah
Shi-vaya).

…….written as !! ॐ नमः शिवाय !! It is five-syllable ( panchakshari) mantra .(ॐ)
AUM is an epithet of Shiva it is not counted and the mantra remainspanchakshari
only. It is a Vedic mantra ; mentioned in Yajurveda’s 11 sukt ofRudradhaya .

Meaning:

It is Most Powerful and most popular mantra in Hinduism.

Namah – Literally, I bow to

Shivaya – God/Atma the inner Self

Na – Earth Mah – Water

Shi – Fire Va – Air

Ya – Sky or ether

It means "I bow toShiva." Shiva is the supreme reality, the inner Self. It is
the name givento consciousness that dwells in all. Shiva is the nameof your
true identity- yourself.

Namah Shivaya also represents Pancha Bhooth Tatva orthe five elements. The five
faces of Great Lord.

It is the greatest manta because in this the person who chants (one whorepeats
the mantra) bow to Shiva- his true self.

Shiva the auspicious one, who is good among good and the beneficial,
thebenevolent. Therefore it brings all good and increases your positivity
andenergy levels. Shiva is the inner self, the soul that is why he is also
calledthe Destroyer because the inner self remains intact even after everything
ends.

Origin:

Origin of this manta is not known because the philosophy of Shiva is nottime
bond.

In Yajur Veda 11 sukta of Rudradhavaya ( Rudram) .Yatha ishu siva thamaashivam
babuva the dhanu,

Shivaa sharavyaa yaa thava thaya no rudhra mrudaya. 1.2

Meaning: Bless us with happiness our Lord,

with that arrow of thine, which is holy,

with that bow of thine, which is begetter of good,

with that quiver of thine, which is sweet

The almighty is a begetter of good i.e. Shiva………he is always Shiva.

In the Shiva Purana, it is Shiva that teaches the panchaksari mantra toBrahma
in order to give Shakti to his forms. When the world is darkened by sinsand
evils it will be the panchaksari that will embark one on the mukti marga(path
of liberation or Moksha).

as !! ॐ नमः शिवाय !! ॐ is the Self Shiva and the five syllables are the five
faces of Shiva, itis Shiva himself, it is naturally part of him as speech.

Benefits:

It has been said about this mantra that if this mantra is recitedcontinuously
in your heart, then you have no need to perform austerities, tomeditate,
because you are in constantly in touch with the Divine who is firstwithin you
and without you. It is said to be a medicine of all dosas (problems)of samsara.
The name of Shiva is specific for removing putra doshas (problemsrelated to
having children). When there is no Sun we are enshrouded indarkness, the name
of Siva is like the light of the Sun. It gives limitlessomniscience (sarvajna),
bliss (anandamaya sankara), and liberation (moksa). Thepanchakshari is the
knowledge of Shiva (Shivajnana), and it is the ultimateobjective (paramapada).

Another mantra is “Om NamoNarayanaya” :

The Beejakshar mantra “Om Namo Narayanaya” means I “to bow” or “to bowto.”
Narayanaya. Narayana has many meanings and interpretations. Some take itsroot
from the Sanskrit word for water, Naara, while anaya means “resting place”or
“shelter.” And is the is the another name for the Hindu God, Vishnu,
whoseresting place is water or an ocean. Alternatively, Naara can also mean
the“living entities,” so Narayanaya can also mean the “resting place of all
livingentities.”

Naara also means “human” while anaya is the “direction” hence, Narayanayais the
“direction of a human” or that which helps humans toward their goal
ofSelf-realization. Or it can be taken that Narayanaya is “the shelter of
allhuman beings.”

Both mantra are beneficial forHuman being.one can achieve or upgrade his levels
in spirituality by recitingthese Mantras.
