Some lines from the article Hindu Civilization written by Kaviyarasar
Kannadasan in Kalki Weekly Magazine in 1975;
′′ It was a time when Muslims and British came next to us. The then
Hindu became less conscious. He was attracted by the habits of other
religions. Received kuruma and biryani from Muslims. He learned
uncontrollable comfort from Christians. He forgot he had his own unique
decency. The forgetfulness has grown and not decreased over the days. No
other religion teaches the civilization of life; Hinduism teaches only one.
What clothes to wear from what to eat and what not to eat Teaches it all
until. Western civilization is not religious civilization. That is a
religious civilization. But a Hindu's civilization was based on divine
basis. It made our family a temple. Made the husband a God. Made the wife a
goddess. As Swami Vivekananda says ′′ A Hindu should not have his own
house. If there is a house like that, it is to welcome and treat the guests
′′ Temple is to welcome others and show mercy. So Hindu's family is a
temple. He does pooja every day. Because on that day he sanctifies himself.
He calls Vibhuthi ′′ Thiruneeru He calls the name ′′ Thiruman Eating them
every day. Because this body is going to ′′ water ′′ in fire. Or buried in
the soil and going to dust Just to remember that everyday. Just to promise
′′ this dying body should not do any mistake ′′ by thinking so. He's
swimming and washing his body. Wash the heart by doing pooja. I am
correctly mentioning a good Hindu. We have to remind the civilization that
the Hindu society has forgotten! Our civilization has a high purpose in
every atom. It sprouted in righteousness The heck-the-thing. Hindu
civilization guides a child from birth to death.” (from Face book)
KR Many like Kannadasan; may be people think he is another
ARUNAGIRINATHER”. Undoubtedly, he had the Karma by which he wrote rather
translated in good Tamil Veda orchards blossoming to drive into the minds
of the ordinary people. But he crossed the overboard in translating
everything including the scriptures of other religions too, which showed
his desire to earn money. There are instances on this earth where the best
literary works are provided by the minds of the exact opposites in their
actions- authors. Hitler thought better than Churchill. So, we can read and
pass off rather than passing attributions to such. Time will worn-out such
materials. His Tamil was powerful. But grasping was near about
precipitations. Anything not marked well, can create the opposites in the
ignorant and such things shall be void. He wrote that human soul will not
die but be reborn; (manida anma maranameidhadhu marupadi pirandirukum) ;
First part is OK ; no death for Anma; as Anma does not die , so too does
not give to birth also; soul is never born; body is born and dies; but the
connotation appears to be ANMA is reborn. For the poetic words
improbability, he had strewed many poems in rhymes. He says that “kill the
body and it is also one of the valour”. (meniyaikkolvai veerathil aduvum
ondru) . Killing the body is not valour then the murder would take a
different meaning it is kshatriya dharma; he cannot fit that correctly so
for “chandam” said “valour” which is incorrect. So too in the above he had
crossed overboard. No doubt the fence crossed the borders viz the brahmins
by employment with the British and Islam kings and rulers. And many
followed suits. It was greed. But one decent writer cannot write as
Biriyani and Kuruma attracted those which means the character of the
author. The change had started even from the period of Buddaha. So change
is not from 1800 AD alone though they were remarkable. And the way of
presentation is too morbid. On THE Contrary this presentation is
