Friendship
Mitra (मित्र, “friend”) refers to one of the fifty-six *vināyakas*
<https://www.wisdomlib.org/definition/vinayaka#purana> located at Kāśī
(Vārāṇasī), and forms part of a sacred pilgrimage (*yātrā*), described in
the Kāśīkhaṇḍa (Skanda-purāṇa 4.2.57). He is also known as Mitravināyaka,
Mitragaṇeśa and Mitravighneśa. These fifty-six *vināyakas* are positioned
at the eight cardinal points in seven concentric circles (8x7). They center
around a deity named Ḍhuṇḍhirāja (or Ḍhuṇḍhi-vināyaka) positioned near the
Viśvanātha temple, which lies at the heart of Kāśī, near the Gaṅges. This
arrangement symbolises the interconnecting relationship of the macrocosmos,
the mesocosmos and the microcosmos.
Mitra (मित्र).—*General information.* One of the twelve Sūryas. The
twelve Sūryas born to Aditi of Kaśyapaprajāpati are Viṣṇu, Śakra, Aryamā,
Dhātā, Tvaṣṭā, Pūṣā, Vivasvān, Savitā, Mitra, Varuṇa, Bhaga and Aṃśa.

In Sanskrit the name means either "friend" or "associate". He is a
benevolent God.
So friendship is a old system which was worshipped as a deity; and
west made out a deduction that because there was an agreement made by
Persian Kings. Hence Rig vedam and settlement in India happened only from
here. Of course, this theory of aryan invasion was ended as untrue.
Friendship was considered as highly celestial and kept so high in
many purana s and Epics. Rama was a great friend of Sugrivan. Duryodhana
was a thick friend of Karnan. Arjunan was a close friend of Krishna.
Krishna-Sudama, Drona and Durupadan were school friends.
six characteristics of friendship are: A friend is happy when
something good happens to his friend; A friend is sad when something bad
happens to his friend; A friend shares even his best things with his
friend; A friend does not keep count, waiting for his gifts to be repaid; A
friend does his own work; he doesn’t count on his friend to work for him; A
friend puts his friendship above profits.
The learned said that the friendship is a gift a boon. It is true. A
wife and a friend who is so much attached and expecting nothing in return,
is really a great boon. One who gets it had rendered a good karma.

முன்வைக்கப்படுகிறது. Pisiranthayar a poet and the king were so thick
friends who were never met at all; yet had the friendship; and when the
king was leaving his body the poet went to see him and it is said the poet
also died.
Another story says that Bhoja Rajan and Kalidasan were close
friends. Some rifts happened and Kalidasan, who had the desire to hear, his
own poetry, being sung, hid himself in a prostitute home; the King in
search of his friend, had an idea to bring him out; so he wrote a tough
poem with the hidden meaning of the first line; he circulated it in the
kingdom, offering high stake, only the second line is filled; the lady who
saw this brought it to Kalidasan, avarice to win the award; Kalidasan,
easily filled it as an answer; she went to the Kings Sabha and gave the
poem completed; The King immediately recognised that of his friend and
asked her , where is Kalidasan and the rest is history. Kashmiris say it
as Bhojan and Bilhanan also.
The best friendship exists between the husband and wife also in their
old age. Feigning is not friendship but idukkan kalaivatham natpu,
Tirukkural, removing the difficulty of the friend is friendship and that is
compared to the speed with which your hand rushes , to hold the dhothi,
which is falling down. முகநக நட்பது நட்பன்று நெஞ்சத்து அகநக நட்பது நட்பு.
