QUESTION ANSWER DIVINE 89 BHAGVAT GITA QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Dear friends, These are informationstored long back in my computer and I found the QA quite refreshing. I hope forall the QA will be refreshing, if not informative. Most of the questions arefrom Bhagavat Geetha. Being a compilation there can be errors. Sincerely, Gopalakrishnan 30-12-21 Q1 When do one incarnation of Krishna takes place? A1 Krishna descends tothis planet once in a dayof Brahma, or every 8,600,000,000 years. This purpose is stated inBhagavad-gita, and we have to accept it as it is; otherwise there is no pointin trying to understand the Bhagavad-gita and its speaker, Lord Krishna Q2 Who was the father of Radha? What washer complexion? A2Radharani’s bodily complexionwas like molten gold and she was the Queen of Vrndavana. She was the daughterof King Vrsabhanu, and dearto Lord Krishna. Q3 Who was the orginator of BhagavathGeetha? A3 We shouldtake Bhagavad-gita as it is directed by the Personality of Godhead Himself. In the Fourth Chapter of theGita (4.1-3) the Lord says to Arjuna: This systemof yoga, the Bhagavad-gita, was first spoken to the sun-god byLord (God) , andthe sun-god explained it to Manu, and Manu explained it to Iksvaku, and in thatway, by disciplic succession, one speaker after another, this yoga system hasbeen coming down. But in the course of time it has become lost.Consequently the Lord has to speak it again, this time to Arjuna on theBattlefield of Kuruksetra. Afterhearing Bhagavad-gita from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Arjuna acceptedKrishna as param brahma, the Supreme Brahman Q4 Do the worship of Demi Gods areapproved? A4 In theBhagavad-gita, worship of different demigods or rendering service to them is not approved. It isstated in the Seventh Chapter, twentieth verse: kamais taistair hrta jnanah prapadyante'nya-devatah tam tamniyamam asthaya prakrtyaniyatah svaya "Thosewhose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigodsand follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to theirown natures." Here it is plainly said that those who aredirected by lust worship the demigods and not the Supreme Lord Krishna. But Lord Krishna even discouraged His fatherNanda Maharaja from worshiping the demigod Indra, because Hewanted to establish the fact that people need not worship any demigod. Theyneed only worship the Supreme Lord, because their ultimate goal is to return toHis abode Q5 How the abode of Lord Sri Krishna is described in the Geetha? A5 The abode of Lord Sri Krishna is describedin the Bhagavad-gita, Fifteenth Chapter, sixth verse: na tadbhasayate suryo na sasankona pavakah yad gatva nanivartante tad dhamaparamam mama "That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this materialworld." One who canapproach that spiritual sky is not required to descend again to the materialsky. Q6 How the Brahma loka, Swarga loka and Devaloka are described in the Geetha? A7 In thematerial sky, even if we approach the highest planet (Brahmaloka), what to speak ofthe moon, we will find the same conditions of life, namely birth, death, disease and old age. No planet in the material universe is free from these fourprinciples of material existence. The moon, the sun and higher planets are calledSvargaloka. There are three different statuses of planets: higher, middle and lowerplanetary systems. The earth belongs to the middle planetary system. Bhagavad-gita informs us how to travel to the higherplanetary systems (Devaloka) with a very simple formula:yanti deva-vrata devan. One need only worship the particular demigod of that particularplanet and in that way go to the moon, the sun or any of the higher planetarysystems. Amongst allof the planets in the spiritual sky there is one supreme planet called GolokaVrndavana, which is the original planet in the abode of the originalPersonality of Godhead Sri Krishna Q7 How to approach the Lord’s abode as toldin the Geetha? A7 Next, onemay raise the question of how one goes about approaching that abode of theSupreme Lord. Information of this is given in the Eighth Chapter. It is saidthere: anta-kale camam eva smaranmuktva kalevaram yah prayatisa mad-bhavam yati nastyatra samsayah "Anyone who quits his body, at theend of life, remembering Me, attains immediately to My nature; and there is nodoubt of this." (Bg. 8.5) One who thinks of Krishna at thetime of his death goes to Krishna. One must remember the form of Krishna; if hequits his body thinking of this form, he surely approaches the spiritualkingdom. Q8 How do the death is described in theGeetha? A8 Theprocess of quitting this body and getting another body in the material world isalso organized. A man dies after it has been decided whatform of body he will have in the next life. Higherauthorities, not the living entity himself, make this decision.According to our activities in this life, we either rise or sink. This life isa preparation for the next life. My note- I have felt a contradiction here. In a laterverse it is said, if a dying person rememberssupreme God he would reach his feet. One who desires to merge into the existence of theSupreme Brahman is at once transferred to the brahmajyoti of the Supreme Lord and thus attains the spiritual sky Thereforeat the end of life the transcendentalists think either of the brahmajyoti, theParamatma or Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna Q9 How to enter the spiritual kingdom-asdescribed in the Geetha? A9 TheBhagavad-gita (8.6) also explains the general principle that makes it possibleto enter the spiritual kingdom simply by thinking of the Supreme at the time ofdeath: yam yam vapismaran bhavam tyajaty antekalevaram tam tamevaiti kaunteya sadatad-bhava-bhavitah "Whatever state of being one remembers whenhe quits his present body, in his next life he will attain to that statewithout fail." At the timeof death either we can remain in the inferior energy of this material world, orwe can transfer to the energy of the spiritual world. So the Bhagavad-gita(8.6) says: yam yam vapismaran bhavam tyajaty antekalevaram tam tamevaiti kaunteya sadatad-bhava-bhavitah "Whatever state of being one remembers whenhe quits his present body, in his next life he will attain to that statewithout fail." Q10 How to transfer the thinking to spiritualthinking? A10 Just to transfer theirthinking power to the spiritual sky, Krishna-dvaipayana Vyasa has given a greatnumber of Vedic literatures. First he divided the Vedas into four, then heexplained them in the Puranas, and for less capable people he wrote theMahabharata. In the Mahabharata there is given the Bhagavad-gita. Then allVedic literature is summarized in the Vedanta-sutra, and for future guidance hegave a natural commentation on the Vedanta-sutra, called Srimad-Bhagavatam In conclusion, Bhagavad-gita is a transcendentalliterature which one should read very carefully.Gita-sastram idam punyam yah pathet prayatah puman: if one properly follows theinstructions of Bhagavad-gita, one can be freed from all the miseries andanxieties of life. Bhaya-sokadi-varjitah. One will be freed from all fears inthis life, and one's next life will be spiritual. (Gita-mahatmya 1) "If one reads Bhagavad-gita very sincerely andwith all seriousness, then by the grace of the Lord the reactions of his pastmisdeeds will not act upon him." (Gita-mahatmya 2) TheLord says very loudly in the last portion of Bhagavad-gita (18.66): BecauseBhagavad-gita is spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one need notread any other Vedic literature. One need only attentively and regularly hear and read Bhagavad-gita. In the present age, peopleare so absorbed in mundane activities that it is not possible for them to readall the Vedic literatures. But this is not necessary. This one book,Bhagavad-gita, will suffice, because it is the essence of all Vedic literaturesand especially because it is spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.(Gita-mahatmya 4) Q11 Why it is told Bhagavt geetha is iseven more important than the water of the Ganges? A11 "One who drinks the water of the Ganges attains salvation, so whatto speak of one who drinks the nectar of Bhagavad-gita? Bhagavad-gitais the essential nectar of the Mahabharata, and it is spoken by Lord KrishnaHimself, the original Visnu." (Gita-mahatmya 5) . Bhagavad-gitacomes from the mouth of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the Ganges issaid to emanate from the lotus feet of the Lord. Of course, there is nodifference between the mouth and the feet of the Supreme Lord, but from an impartial study wecan appreciate that Bhagavad-gita is even more important than the water of theGanges. A15 Answeris there in Chapter2 ,Sloka 13 ofBhagavath Geetha. As theembodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to oldage, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person lsnot bewildered by such a change. In SlokaSLOKA 17 it is stated “ That whichpervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy thatimperishable soul.” Arjuna asksin SLOKA 21- O Partha, how can a person who knows that the soul is indestructible, eternal, unborn and immutable kill anyone or cause anyone to kill? In replyLord states in SLOKA 22- As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving upthe old and useless ones. In SLOKA 24” This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neitherburned nor dried. He is everlasting, present everywhere, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same.” Sloka 27 – “Onewho has taken his birth is sure to die, and after death one is sure to take birth again. Therefore, in the unavoidable discharge of your duty, you should not lament.” -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Thatha_Patty" group.
