BEING  A COMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            Iscucumber good for a kidney?

A1            Lucia Garcia Worked atHospitals 2h

Cucumber can clean the kidneys, help the kidneys to eliminate toxins, and reduce
the burden on the kidneys. Eating some cucumbers regularly is very
beneficialfor kidney health.

Cucumbers are the fruit with the highest water content, a medium-sizedcucumber
measuring 6 to 7 inches in length will weigh around 200 grams, andcontain about
190 grams of water.

In addition, cucumber also contains minerals such as potassium,
calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and selenium, which are very rich in trace
elements.

Generally, after eatingcucumbers, the water in cucumbers can enter the kidneys
within half an hour. These water rich in minerals caneffectively boost kidney
health and prevent various kidney diseases.

Water rich in various trace elements will also dilute the concentrationof urine
and speed up the excretion of urine, which can not only prevent kidneystones
but also reduce the burden on the kidneys.

Cucumbers are low-calorie fruits. A medium-sized cucumber contains only30
calories. Eatingcucumbers will not make you fat.

Q2            Cana man love his mother-in-law in the same way he expects from
his wife to hismother?

A2            Bhuvana Rameshwar marriedfor three decades 6h

You know biologically women are tuned differently than men. They think and feel
differently. Emotions, interpretations, demands are also relatively different.

So a dil may live with, love and respect her mil but a man loving and
respecting his milis just impossible. The relationship here remains formal
andnamesake and given the first opportunity gets dissolved.

There are many reasons for this .

They have less interactioncompared to his wife and mother, who live in joint
families or as nuclear families who meet often in thename of festivals and
gatherings. Any wrong word spoken hurts his ego. So theydo not give a second
chance to their mil. A dil - mil may on the other handdisagree, argue, fight
and also forgive and make up. Here there is no ego orshame being of the same
sex.

Men do not know how to gelwith women especially elder women. Physical
attraction doesn't happen here if the mil is old or completelyavoided if she
still in middle age. They tend to compare them with their ownmother. Usually
elderlywomen are seen with respect, not as friend.

His own mother may not like him getting close to his mil. His mother mayget
hurt and angry. So they avoid this.

Having a good relationship with mil is difficult because most men do not like
her often bossy behaviour and micromanaging his wife. Some bully the son in law
too, expect favourslike royal treatment, money, gifts for festivals, shopping
trips and tours.

Many men do not like their fil, so they hardly visit their inlaws orphone call.
It is always a bare minimum. So interaction with mil is naturallyless.

Inspite of all these ifa man gets along well with his mil, his wife may feel
jealous like her ownmother is a competition for her and nip the relationship in
its bud. This is a natural in born feeling in women. So It is safer that way and
avoidslater embarrassments if any and hurts. Now with smart phone in
everybody's handit is better with a safe distance. Otherwise we may end with
complex, absurd situations as faced bywestern countries because of unnecessary
attraction between son in law andmother in law !! Adecent distance is always
good.

That is why in ancient India a mil hardly talked to her son in law exceptthe
bare minimum that too standing behind the door ! Some norms are stillfollowed.
Son in law istreated with respect and not informally as a son or as a friend
evennow in most families in India and in many countries .

Q3            Whycan I melt sugar but I can't melt salt?

A3            Shaunak BhattacharjeeeSoftware Engineer | Traveller | Foodie Sun

The LPG gas stoves that you have in your house for cooking food burns aflame
where the temperature goes till 300 to 400 °C.  Induction Cooktops have a
temperature up to260 °C.

The melting point of HouseholdSugar is 186 °C. So youcan easily melt the sugar
and turn it into a caramelized solution at your home. However, common salthas a
melting point of 801 °C which is way higher than thetemperature that you
achieve inside your house either through LPG gas orCooktops.

PS — Melting Point of a solid is the temperature at which it startsmelting. For
example, the melting point of ice is 0 °C at which it starts tomelt into water.

Q4            Arewe generically more like our dads or our moms?

A4            Amy Chai MD, InternalMedicine, MS, Epidemiology, author Sun

Mothers.-We inherit half of a genome from each parent, so you might betempted
to think it is equal.

But our mitochondria comeexclusively from the mother’s egg and contain
mitochondrial DNA.

Mysterious. Mitochondria are the power house of the cell.

And if you are a man, you geteven more from mother. She gives you an X, which
is larger than the Y gene thatcame from Dad.

Therefore inheritance favors the maternal side, and this effect isstronger in
males.

Q5            Whydo almost all electronics that would be used in a bedroom have
a small lightyou can't turn off?

A5            Sterling Hulling,studied Electrical Engineering & Business
Administration at Iowa StateUniversity (2020)Answered 19m ago

Because having an indicatorlight is often one of the cheapest and easiest to
understand ways ofinterfacing between the device and the user.

Without that light, how would you know it has power? How would you knowif it
has an error? How would you know it is charging, or doing anything.

>From a design standpoint, they are cheap and easy to implement. Theyprovide
>feedback, and if people hate them they can cover them.

I agree however, that they arebright and annoying. particularly bright blue
LED’s are atrocious.

I highly advise using a little bit of black tape to cover the offendinglight.
I’ve used that successfully for nearly all such lights.

For bright displays, like clocks and radios, you can apply a window tint to
them to reducetheir brightness.

Q6            Whichhouses do burglars avoid?

A6            Robert Vines B.A. inSpeech & Science, Indiana University
Bloomington Jan 31

The first trick to get a burglar to pass on by is visibility. They don’t want
to be seen.So lights, and no line of sight obstructions from the street.

The second trick is a goodstrong lock in a good strong door.

The third trick is vigilance. I remember a TV show done by two reformedburglars
where they would find a house, and while the owner and the one hostwould watch
from the van the host who did all the work would break in. Itusually took less
than two minutes for him to get in. They would then give thehome a security
makeover. Next they would come back in a few weeks and try tobreak in again. In
the very first episode I saw the homeowner had left thefront door unlocked. So
when he got home they were in his kitchen drinking hisbeer. No security works
if you don’t use it.

Q7            Whichare some of the towns in Tamil Nadu that have huge potential
for development, but are not concentrated upon?

A7            Rajesh VaradharajaPerumal Lived in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India

Personal choices

Tiruchirapally   Though Trichy is one of the major municipal corporations among
the 10+ municipalcorporations of Tamilnadu, I don’t see any major industrial
establishmentsother than the BHEL and Ordnance factory of the central
government. Somebenefits include the NIT and the IIM in Trichy.

It is high time for the government to focus on diverse developmentthroughout
the state. Infrastructure and Industrial development plans aremainly focused on
Chennai. Coimbatore has developed by itself due to the hardwork of the
entrepreneurs of the district, whereas this is not the same case inother
districts.

Trichy, having an internationalairport, has the chance of flourishing provided
the resource capacity isefficiently used.Agriculture-related industries, which
produce value-added products would be amore feasible one since Trichy is
surrounded by agriculture-intensive deltadistricts.

The spread of the IT sector needs to be extended throughout
Tamilnadu,especially in the southern districts.

Nagercoil,(Kanyakumaridistrict) has a considerably high per capita income. An
airport shall be inaugurated to improve the connectivitysince it is a
well-known tourist location.

Tuticorin - Potential citywhich can be modernized like Chennai. Has all
possible resources for further economic improvement.

I wish the state government shall take steps to establish wide ITCorridors in
Tamilnadu, extending from Chennai to Coimbatore and Chennai toKanyakumari. With
the services sector being inevitable for development in thisera, I think
spreading the IT establishments throughout the state by forming ITcorridors
would fasten the government’s aim to reach 1 trillion economy.

Q8            Whydon't humans have long muzzles like horses do?

A8            Steven Haddock Studiedat York University (Canada)Jan 25

Because wesweat and don’t have much hair. Most animals with long muzzles spend
a lot of their time running andthat large skull helpsthem dissipate heat.

If you’ve read about short muzzled dogs, like bulldogs, dying of heatstroke its
because animals with those big snouts depend a lot on respiratory heatloss to
control their body temperature when they exert themselves.

For dogs, that’s panting -their wet tongues can get rid of a lot of heat.

People don’t have to do that. Because we don’t have fur and we sweat alot we
depend primarily on sweat evaporation to dissipate excess body heat. Ourshort
muzzles are perfectly adequate for humidifying and controlling thetemperature
of incoming air as well.

Q9            Dohorses instinctively try to protect their owners the way dogs
do?

A9            Claire Jordan Degreein biology and folklore; programmer, shop
owner, secretary on newspaper17h

I don’t know if any horse thatwasn’t an entire stallionwould protect somebody
from a predator, because their instinct is to run. But decadesago I read about
the following incident.

A mother and daughter were out riding alongside a canal. The daughter, who I
think was about 18 or 20, was riding an elderly Irish draught gelding. She
hadn’t had him long, but he had a lot of experience with other riders.
Whatfollowed was witnessed by a lock keeper.

The Irish horse slipped andstumbled, and his rider fell off into the canal.
Unfortunately she banged her head on the way down, and ended up unconscious and
face down in the water. The horse saw what had happened, jumped into thecanal
alongside her (it was probably shallow enough that he couldstand on the
bottom), duckedhis whole head under water and heaved the girl out onto the
bankusing the back of his neck, then scrambled back out after her.

Q10         Whydo so many people throw away laptops after five years?

A10          Ian Lang ElectronicEngineer BTEC L3Feb 4

It used to be a policy at aplace I worked that we would replace a third of our
computers every year. The computers running critical systems (1st tier)would be
replaced once a year, and the formerly 1st tier being replaced wouldbe sent to
important but non-critical roles (2nd tier) and those ex 2nd tierwould be put
to routine tasks (3rd tier). This was a bit excessive but it did mean that all
thecomputers were up to spec.

After three years things start breaking. After five years it startsgetting
difficult to get the parts. After seven years it’s next door toimpossible.
Keeping our stuff bang up to date meant that we spent less timemaintaining them
and they could handle the latest software and hardwaredevelopments. You try
running a machine with anything more than 4GB of memoryon XP, unless you’ve got
the Professional Edition.

The old stuff got sold torefurbishers. They’d overhaulit, and sell still quite
good computers at bargain prices to consumers and businesses that didn’tneed
such high specs. Those computers would probably still chug onfor another five
years if the buyers looked after them; they’d be prettylow-end comparatively by
then but still good enough for anything the averagehome or office-drone user
would do. I’ve still got one from 2003. It chugs on onXP and I’ve still got
some legacy software on it that was flaky on W7, and likeeverything, failed to
work at all on W8. I didn’t dare try it on W10 and itmost definitely won’t work
on W11.

The future, ca marche. Machines are getting inexorably more clever. So it’s a
pity, sometimes, about some of the people using them.

I blame the EU. Ursula vot’s a Linux?
