Pranam What is Happiness: Dharma sastra advocates thus: "Santoṣa (सन्तोष) refers to “positive contentment” and forms part of the ancient Indian education system, which aimed at both the inner and the outer dimension of a person. Students living with the teacher (Guru or Ācārya) led a life of self-control, abstinence, obedience and devotion and regulated their lives by adhering to *yama* (self-restraint) and *niyama* (five observances), that is, *śauca* — purity of body, mind, thought; *santoṣa* — positive contentment; *tapas* — austerity; *svādhyāya* — self-study, introspection; and *īśvarapraṇidhāna* — faith in and surrender to the gods. संतोष एव पुरुषस्य परं निधानम् (*saṃtoṣa eva puruṣasya paraṃ nidhānam*) Subhāṣitani. SAM is a strong word in samskritam. The asses may not know about it; Narayanaswqamys do lack all such; one who lacks happiness , lacks in everything, and thus make others unhappy, sad, immerse them in rude words etc. Those janthus also must live in this world as ordained by their Karma. So positive contentment will be there, only , when we ignore such preposterous janthus who are allowed to exist by the good hearts of this society. 2 यथा प्रथमे (१.१६.२६-२९) —
