BEING  ACOMPILATION THERE MAY  BE ERRORS

Q1            What are the major benefits ofprofessional drain cleaning?

A1            Gopala Krishnan Former AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)0y

I expect thequestion is about using maximum mechanical and electrical aids,
least employing man power, andwhen manpower is employed all safety devices are
provided. No fearof death or injuries to people employed.

One requirement isdrains should be made in such a way, electrically operated
mechanical devicescan be used in them. One major problem is lack of oxygen in
drains. Not onlymen getting in for work in areas where electrically operated
mechanicalequipment cannot be employed, with all safety equipment, before men
getting in it has to be ensured all gasesare removed from drain by blowing
between manholes.

A long way we haveto go in this aspect especially in India. Main thing is to
stop workers toenter drain pipe lines for cleaning and everything is
mechanically cleaned by electric operationonly. Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE. Men can
be employed in other jobs

Q2            What is the difference between theSambar prepared for use with
meals (rice) and breakfast (Iddaly/Dosa)?

A2            Bhuvana Rameshwar Smart cook, nothardworking 7h

I make the sambarsdifferently for breakfast and for lunch.

Breakfast sambar I make is thickeras it has freshly ground sambar powder with
roasted and coconut in it. Ittastes sweeter as it has lots of small onions,
sometimes yellow pumpkin, alittle jaggery, lots of tomatoes (fleshy type) and
only a little tamarind.Sometimes we add a little mung dhal to tuvar dhal when
cooking the lentils.

We grind the sambarpowder slightly coarse to get the feel of the various
ingredients likecoriander seeds, coconut and dried red chillies while eating.
It also hastempering done with ghee. Drumsticks, plentiful small onions,
squash, carrots, beans are common in these sambar.

Lunch sambar is thinner as we pour it on rice and athicker version would make
it clumpy. The sambar powderis ground fine in the local grinding mills. I make
this powder once in 6 monthsand store it in air tight boxes.

We do not add anyfried coconut in this sambar powder. A few sour tomatoes
(native type) areadded but tamarind is more as this sambar is more spicy. Big
onions, drumstick, radish, brinjal, ash gourd, broad beans are common in this
type ofsambar. Sweet vegetables are avoided in this. No jaggery or sugar is
added.

My note- decades back during 1965’s one of themenu item was iddali sambar. One
full cup of hot sambar was poured over 2iddalies and supplied. 99% vada may not
be ready. This sambar was thin and not thick and cutvegetables were less.

Q3            Is it possible to turn a desert intofarmland by bringing in a lot
of organic matter and helping it break down withwater?

A3            Barry Weir An empiricist from Lima,PeruJun 4

The driest place onthe planet is in the North of Chile; on our southern border.
The entire coast of Peru isdesert.

There are many waysto cultivate a desert; indeed, much of our produce here in
Lima comes from the desert areas south of themetropolis:

We’re somethinglike the world’s fifth largest exporter of grapes.

We export around 300,000 tonnes of citrus fruit:

Admittedly, some ofour fruit comes from the outer edges of the Amazon, but it’s
not easy to shipfrom there.

Rice is grown in the North of Peru - below is a ricefield in Tumbes Region.
They have ample irrigationfrom the Tumbes River:

The green rectangleis the seedling pond; the seedlings will be transplanted in
the surroundingfield, it will be flooded.

Peoplehave been cultivating deserts for around the past 6,000 years

Q4            What don't you like in Tamil Nadu asa Tamilian?

A4            Praveen Kumar Rajendran Lives in Chennai,Tamil Nadu, India Jun 8

As a person who hadlived in Chennai for almost 10+ years, below are the
infrastructure things Ihave seen in Chennai.

City is wellconnected by road ( Asia’sbiggest Bus stand is at Chennai)

City is wellconnected by Electric train

Metro Train (partially completed )

Almost all theRailway gates have over bridge or subway bridge

IT express high waywith 100+ IT companies

There are 100+school, college and hospital ( 100+ is quite less number)

1 Domestic Airportand 1 International Airport.

100+ ChildrenParks, Theme Park, Library, Malls and Theaters.

City has a harborwith good traffic.

Head of all thestate administration.

Likewise, I can saymultiple things about Chennai’s infrastructure. These were
not built in singleday. And these have lead to the following things too

1  Over crowded public transport     2. Heavy traffic 3.Highly polluted    4.
Water Scarcity during the summer     5 Flood during the monsoon ( due
toencroachments ) 6    Increased cost of living

Bottom line is,everything is Chennai centric. Every politician is Chennai
centric. Chennai isthe capital of the state. But that doesn’t mean, everything
should be Chennaicentric. There are multiple tier 2 cities like Coimbatore
Madurai Trichy and Tirunelveli. Iwish, Chennai’s strength should be distributed
across the state.

Short Answer: WhatI don’t like in Tamil Nadu as Tamilan is, Chennai is given
overimportance and rest of the cities are not given that much importance.Iwish,
this should change and it will change.

My note- Now Chennai city is expanded. Earlier there were city centres like
Mount Road, Parrys, TNgar. Now such city centres are not there. Malls have
come, and trade areas arediversified. Escalators have come up depend on footage
in many railway stationsin the city. The city airport has expanded and in
international airport morethan 50% passengers are from middle class or lower
middle class. In domesticairport most are middle class passengers now. Air
travel is for higher strata haschanged. Still flight charges are high.

Q5            What happens when one bulb goes outand the left bulbs won't light?

A5            Gopala KrishnanFormer AssistantGeneral Manager 1996-2004 at
Department of Telecom (1966–2004)Just now

When few bulbs areconnected in series, if one bulb fails, there is a break in
the electric line. One has to switch off the supply, put through the line by
connecting together  wires and insulation provided over it andswitch ON the
supply to burn the other lights.

If we observe thepower lines, home connections are done in PARALLEL. Any short
or break in one home will notbe affect other homes.

It has to beremembered the point where the bulb has fused , has electric
current and touching with barefoot will giveelectric shock and fatal. So always
use insulated footwear whileworking on electric lines

Q6            What is curcumin?

A6            Lucia Garcia Worked at HospitalsJun11

For thousands ofyears, turmeric has not only been a staple spice in Indian and
Chinese diets, but also a natural remedy in traditional Indian and Chinese
medicine.

Curcumin, an active compound found in turmeric,is also a natural food coloring
that gives turmeric its yellow color.

Curcumin constitutes about 3% to 5% of turmeric.

Natural curcumin is also a food additive approved by theWorld Health
Organization and the Food and AgricultureOrganization of the United Nations.

Clinical studieshave proven that curcumin is a bioactive phytochemical with
strong antioxidantand anti-inflammatory properties.

The anti-inflammatory effect of curcumin is comparable tothat of most
anti-inflammatory medicines, particularly inextract form, but curcumin has no
side effects.

Natural curcumin also has strong antioxidant capacity, which can remove harmful
free radicals in the body, protect cells, and delaythe aging process of cells.

Many chronicdiseases associated with inflammation can be avoided or reduced by
takingcurcumin daily, Such as heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's,
metabolicsyndrome, cancer and various degenerative diseases, etc.

WHO recommends that the daily intake is 0 to 3 mg perkilogram of body weight,
such as 60 kg adults, the dailyintake should not exceed 180 mg.

Q7            Whatif I eat 4 tablespoons of salt a day for a while?

A7            Info Orb Answered by Dale P Lee on

You'll probably diethe first day from severe hypernatremia. That's right, salt
is poison incertain quantities, like water.

In fact, eatingsalt is listed in Chinese books as a method of suicide when a
city wasdefeated. Women and their daughters (those who could afford it, since
it was aluxury), ate salt in large quantities so as not to be subjected to rape
andtorture.

Rich women used tocommit suicide by eating salt so as not to be captured by the
enemy

Remember Paracelsus: "Nothing is poison, everythingis poison"

Q8            Water is leaking from my washingmachine’s soap drawer. Can I fix
this issue?

A8            Rajeev Lochan Sharma FormerTechnical Trainer (2005–2020)Tue

Considering fromthe question that it’s a front loading machine.

So for front loading machine low foam detergent arerecommended.

Water or foam maycome out from detergent dispenser if high foam detergent is
used

I personallyrecommend to use a liquid detergent instead of a powder detergent
for any timeof washing machine

If above is not thecase then please reduce the water pressure from tap.hope
this will work

Q9            Why do people take a discount on MRPprices knowing that MRP is
fixed on the base of cost price?

A9            Prasanna Bhalerao M. Sc. inElectronics & Physics, Fergusson
College, PuneJun 5

There is nodiscount people.  We, the consumers are led tobelieve that we are
getting a huge discount, sometimes as high as 70%.MRP is the biggest scam and
sham in India.

In a nutshell: Wedo not get a discount. If you look and read very carefully -
the shop willwrite “X% off and not X% discount. In India, one can offer
discount on priceonly and not on tax.

My note- I read elsewhere MRP is maximum pricethe merchant can charge for the
item. The merchant can reduce his profitpercentage and sell at reduced level.
Where as a good percentage is reduced inTamilnadu, inKerala  MRP is charged.

Even for gold the MRP is there, but reduction in MRP  is not done in any
station. Instead ofMRP  gold rate is told because of this.
