QUES ANSW Medical  06-2022-01

Dear friends,

These are information compiled as QA by me in 1998’s-2014’s and stored in my
computer. They areposted by very  learnt doctors and readpersons in kids
health.com etc. Many improvements have come in medical field after
thesecompilation.

These are  just forgeneral information, and for health problems doctors have to
be consulted.

BEING COMPILATION THERE MAYBE  ERRORS.

Sincerely,

Q1  Can a bit ofaspirin every other day can help women keep asthma away ?

A1  Yes. Accordingto a study published recently, a bit of aspirin every other
day can helpwomen keep asthma away.

Previous research has shown the same benefit for men, butthis study, published
in the British journal Thorax, is the first todemonstrate that aspirin reduces
the risk of asthma in women as well.

Aspirin - which in its classic form comes in 325milligramme tablets reduced the
risk ofasthma irrespective of age, menopausal status, exercise levels or
smoking. But it had no impact in clinically obese women.

Q2 What is asthma and how it affect world population?

A2 Asthma is a chronic disease that causes inflammationand swelling of the
inside of the airways leading to the lungs, reducing theflow of air.

According to World Health Organisation estimates, 300million people suffer from
asthma around the world, and 255,000 people - mainlyin poorer countries - died
from the disease in 2005.

Q3 Is it advisable to suppress sniffing?

A3 NO NO. If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to
suppress asneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and die.

People say “Bless you “ when you sneezebecause when you sneeze, your heart stops
for a millisecond.

Q4 Why do birds of the same feather floktogether?

A4 Using brain imaging, scientists have shownthat we easily bond with people we
consider similar to ourselves. Brain Imaging Shows We BondWith People Similar
to us.

Q5 What are advised after food?

A5 *Don't eat fruits immediately - *Immediately eating fruits after meals will
causestomach to be bloated with air. Thereforetake fruit 1-2 hr after meal or
1hr before meal.

Don't drink tea -* Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid.
Thissubstance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be
hardened thus difficult to digest.

Don't bathe - *Bathing after meal will cause theincrease of blood flow to the
hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will
thereforedecrease. This will weaken thedigestive system in our stomach.

Don't walk about - *People always say that
after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99

In actual factthis is not true. Walking willcause the digestive system to be
unable to absorb the nutrition from the foodwe intake.

Don't sleep immediately - *The food we intake will not be able
todigestproperly. Thus will lead togastric & infection in our intestine.

Q6 What is anemia?

A6 Anemia is the deficiencyof the oxygen-carrying red blood cells, which are
producedwithin the bone marrow from amino acids and iron with the aid of
vitamin B12and  folic acid.

Anemia develops formany reasons butmost commonly when the supply of iron is
depleted, the production lineslows and makes sub par, small red blood cells.

Doctors diagnose anemiaby measuring two blood test values: hemoglobin and
hematocrit.

Hemoglobin is theprotein in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs.
Hematocritis the percentage of a blood sample that's made up of red blood
cells,as compared to other cells and the surrounding fluid called serum.

Anemia in women isgenerally defined as a hemoglobin level of less than 12 g/dL,
or a hematocritless than 37 percent.

Because of their monthlymenstrual bleeding, women become anemic more often than
do men, especiallythose with heavy cycles.

My note- I haveforgotten why hemoglobin levels  isshown  low comparing to men,
This answeris refreshing to me.

Q7 Wht is menorrhagia?

A7 The medical lingofor heavy menses is menorrhagia, defined as ablood loss
exceeding 80 mL per cycle.

Menorrhagia is morecommon among womenwho have fibroids within the uterus or
have inherited a bleedingdisorder Womenwith moderate menstrual flow but poor
dietary intake of iron-rich foods mayalso develop anemia over time.

And if a woman who has no menstrual cycles ora light cycle becomes anemic, she
should be evaluated for conditions such aspernicious anemia, lupus, kidney
failure, or colon cancer.

Q8 Whydo tiny coarse hair or hairs that crop up on women’s chin every so often?

A8 There are ways to managethese unwanted guests.

The medical term forcoarse, darkhair that grows in a male pattern is hirsutism
(HER′-sa-TIS′-um).I'm not talking here about a few wild hairs: Some women
experience enoughgrowth to simulate a beard or hair on the chest. Needless to
say, itcan be a significant source of emotional, if not physical discomfort.

The culprit behindthis unwelcome hair growth is a family of male hormones
called androgens, which are generallyproduced in the adrenal glands and
ovaries.

All men and women havethem (along with many other hormones), but each person's
sensitivity toandrogens, andthe amounts of these hormones circulating in the
body, vary by gender andgenetics.

When receptors on thehair follicles are activated by androgen signals, the
follicle's size as wellas the diameter of its hair fiber increases, as does the
time the hair spendsin a growth phase as opposed to a resting phase.

When a woman's hormonelevels are normal but hirsutism is still present, the
hair growth is referredto as idiopathic, meaning we don't know the precise
cause.

Sometimes, however, hairgrowth is associated with irregular menstrual cycles,
acne, weight gain, orother changes that may indicate an underlying hormonal
disorder such aspolycystic ovary syndrome or adrenal hyperplasia. These are
conditionsthat require further medical evaluation, so consider discussing your
symptomswith a doctor.

Q9 What are the medications for Hitruisam?

A9 Medications. Spironoloactoneis a relatively inexpensive medication available
by prescription only. Itis classified as a diuretic which causes the kidneys to
make more urine, butmore interestingly it interferes with the levels and action
of the androgens,like testosterone.

It may take as longas two months to see the results, though, and
spironoloactone must be usedcontinually to maintain its effectiveness.

Q10 What are the detailsabout blood pressure?

A10 First, let's dismiss this mythabout adults having low blood pressure.

Blood pressure runs acontinuum from as low as 60 systolic in infancy
(systolicrefers to the top number, which reflects the highest blood pressure,
when theheart contracts) and rises as we grow up.

Blood pressure isthought to increase significantly over time if a person
consumes a high saltdiet, and especially if that person has inherited a genetic
predisposition. That'swhy sodium content (sodium is the culprit in salt) is
listed on the NutritionFacts of every food label.

Take a peek at theselabels and you may be surprised to learn that high-salt
foods arenot necessarily all that salty tasting. We all know that cured meats
and cannedgoods are full of salt, but sodium is also found in breads and
beverages. And once you get familiar with these labels, consider what must bein
all those great-tasting fast foods and restaurant meals!

consider your own bloodpressure numbers. Anything over 120/80isclassified as
prehypertension and over 140/90 isconsidered full-blown hypertension. This is
another continuum:for every 20/10 increase above 115/75, the risk of
cardiovascular diseasedoubles!

The diagnosis of eitherpre hypertension or hypertension is never based on a
single reading. Make sureyou are relaxed and rested before getting a reading
because blood pressureincreases (asit should) when we exert ourselves, as in
exercise.

If you repeatedly have elevated readings, however, it is time to look for a
cause.

My note- Mynephrologist has prescribed BP tablets tome though I have no BP. He
explained keeping BP a little low is good for health of kidney. I continue BP
tablets more than 10 years now.
