Q1         Is fruit salad healthy?

A1          Weights Loss Diet, Health Director |Loving Father | Business
Director6h

Fruit salad is generally considered a healthy food choicedue to its high
nutrient content and low calorie count. However, the nutritional value of fruit
salad can vary depending on the type offruits used, the serving size, and the
addition of other ingredients such assugar or cream.

Here are some reasons why fruit salad can be a healthyfood choice:

1. High Nutrient Content

Fruit salad is richin vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Different types of
fruits havedifferent nutrient profiles, but most are high in vitamins C and A,
which areimportant for immune function and eye health. Fruits such as berries
and citrusfruits are also high in antioxidants, which protect the body against
damagefrom free radicals.

2. Low Calorie Count

Fruit salad is typicallylow in calories, making it a good choice for people who
are trying to loseweight or maintain a healthy weight. One cup of fruit salad
typically containsaround 100-150 calories, depending on the types of fruits
used.

3. High Fibre Content

Fruits are a goodsource of fibre, which is essential for digestive health and
can help lowercholesterol levels. Fibre also helps you feel full and satisfied,
which canprevent overeating and aid in weight loss.

4. Versatile

Fruit salad is aversatile food that can be customized to suit individual
preferences anddietary needs. Different types of fruits can be used to create
different flavourcombinations, and fruit salad can be served as a snack,
dessert, or side dish.

However, it is important to note that fruit salad canalso be unhealthy if it is
made with canned or preserved fruitsthat are high in sugar or syrup.
Additionally, some recipes call for theaddition of cream or sugar, which can
increase the calorie and sugar content ofthe dish.

To ensure that yourfruit salad is healthy, consider the following tips:

1. Use fresh, wholefruits instead of canned or preserved fruits.

2. Choose a varietyof fruits to maximize nutrient intake.

3. Avoid addingsugar or cream to the fruit salad.

4. Be mindful ofportion sizes, as even healthy foods can lead to weight gain if
consumed inexcess.

In conclusion, fruit salad can be a healthy food choice due to its high nutrient
content, lowcalorie count, and high fibre content. However, it is important to
choosefresh, whole fruits and avoid adding sugar or cream to the dish.

My note- Fruitsalad with ice cream top will be tastier.

Q2         Why are there crushed stones alongsiderail tracks?

A2          Info Sage, Professional Maven4h

Railway tracks are supported by a layer of crushed stonesknown as ballast. The
use of ballast serves severalcrucial purposes in maintaining railway tracks and
ensuring the safety oftrains. Here's a detailed explanation based on the
information provided:

1. Track Ballast:

Track ballastrefers to the rough, sharp-edged stones placed underneath and
alongside railwaytracks. These stones form the track bed on which the sleepers
(also known asrailroad ties) are laid.

The ballast is initially laid on the bare ground to raisethe track level. Once
the ballast is in place, sleepers are positioned at equal distances apart, and
additional ballast ispacked between the sleepers and to the sides.

The railway tracks are then laid on top of the sleepers, attached using clips or
anchors that allow for longitudinalmovement to accommodate heat expansion and
contraction.

2. Railway Sleepers:

Railway sleepers,or railroad ties, are beams made traditionally from hardwood,
but modernalternatives include composite plastic, steel, and pre-stressed
concrete.

Sleepers are laid perpendicular to the direction of thetrack at regular
intervals. They provide a stableplatform for the railway tracks and play a
significant role in maintainingtrack stability and levelness.

3. Purpose of Sharp-Edged Stones:

The stones usedfor track ballast are intentionally rough and sharp-edged. This
is to preventthe stones from rolling or sliding when trains pass over them.

The sharp edges ofthe stones interlock with each other, creating a stable base
for the sleepersand track. The interlocking effect helps resist movement and
ensures the tracksremain securely in place.

4. Benefits of Track Ballast:

Track ballast servesmultiple purposes in maintaining railway tracks:

Load Distribution: The ballast distributes the loadfrom the sleepers and the
trains evenly across the foundation, preventingexcessive stress on the ground.

Stability and Levelness: Ballast helps keep thesleepers stable and level,
providing a solid platform for the tracks.

Drainage: The ballast material has excellentdraining properties, allowing rain
and snow to pass through the track andpreventing flooding. It also helps
maintain a dry foundation beneath theballast.

Vegetation Control: Ballast helps control the growthof vegetation and prevents
the intrusion of roots under the tracks, which couldcause misalignment or
damage.

Track Maintenance: By providing a stable andresilient foundation, ballast
reduces the occurrence of defects, such as trackbuckling, caused by temperature
changes, ground movement, and vibration.

In summary, trackballast, composed of crushed stones, plays a vital role in
supporting andmaintaining railway tracks. It ensures stability, distributes
load evenly, aidsin drainage, controls vegetation growth, and reduces the risk
of track defects. The interlocking nature of the sharp-edged stones provides
added security bypreventing the stones from shifting under the weight of
trains. Overall, ballast is an essential component of railway infrastructure,
facilitating safeand efficient train travel.

My note- Thequestion as I read, is why they are stocked alongside the tracks.
From where ever theballast could be prepared from rocks, and stored for
convenience of easyreplacement, while ballast  loses theirsharpness and broken
to smaller ones. Normally they are distributed by loadingin lorry fitted with
rail  wheels andmoving along track. Normally loading is done with bull dozer
etc., not manually.

Q4         Where does irrigation water go?

A4          Rajiv Angrish, Served in anAgricultural University Updated Jan 31

Irrigation watermeets the following four fates:

A minute fraction of this water gets incorporated asplant biomass. Water (H20)
is a reagent in photosynthesis, and its Hydrogen (H)is transformed into plant
biomass and oxygen (O) is set free.

A good deal of water is passed on as vapours intothe atmosphere as
evapotranspiration water. Direct evaporation of water alsotakes place.

Capillary water is stored in the soil for use by plantroots.

A great fraction of water seeps towards the watertable. In case offlooding
water runoff towards low-lying areas is observed.

Q5         Which is the largest railway station inthe world?

A5          Info Sage, Professional Maven5h

The largest railwaystation in the world, based on the number of platforms,
isGrand Central Terminal in New York City, which boasts 44 platforms.Grand
Central Terminal is a historic landmark and a major transportation hub inthe
heart of Manhattan, serving as a focal point for commuter trains, subwaylines,
and intercity rail services.

However, if weconsider the longest platform in terms of length, the title goes
to HubliJunction railway station inKarnataka, India. Hubli Junction has a
remarkable platform length of 1,505meters (4,938 feet). This extensive platform
allows for theaccommodation of multiple trains simultaneously and serves as a
crucialjunction connecting various railway lines in the region.

Theserecords may change over time as new stations are constructed or
existingstations undergo expansions. Nevertheless, as of theprovided
information, Grand Central Terminal holds the distinction for the
mostplatforms, while Hubli Junction boasts the longest platform in the world.

My note-When I saw the railway station Salem junction, with one platform
running morethan a KM, itwas strange to me in 1966. Two trains were received in
the same platform usinga loop line.
