Respected Mr Rajaram,
I really enjoyed your timely question. We can see the matted lock, since we
are close to Lord Siva. You are at a distance and have cataract to be operated
at the earliest.

I think when late  Mr Annadurai was chief minister of Chennai, efforts were
taken to clean Koovum and ply boats. Certain areas of koovum are  very good
with R C C slabs laid on either side, and with full water like any other wet
river. I am not sure of the quality of water. But water appears clean without
wastes  even now. Probably water comes to those areas after filtering.

I have read Pachayappa mudaliar on those days used to take bath in Koovum
river.
So with efforts Koovum can become at least  Yamuna, if not Ganga. I often try
to see clean koovum area  than dirty dry koovum areas.

Dear GK-ji, there's a Hindi saying, कहां राजा भोज, कहां गंगू तेली ! This saying

Narayanaswamy Anna. There can be no match between the mighty Ganga descending
from the matted locks of Gangadhara Mahadeva and Chennai's Coovum

 Dear Anna.
Though i havent travelled as much you have done, i do remember visiting
Singapore on official business. I recall  staying at the Oberoi ( don't know if
it still exists) and next to it was a typical South Indian temple . Is it the
same Vinayakar temple you've mentioned in the post under reference,?
And, by the eay, it's great to know that a small island country like Singapore,
has duch a large number of Hindu temples and that vedic rituals are regularly
conducted there.
It is evident that Eminem Sanatani scholars like your goodself are surely the
motivators, mentors and margadarshis of these institutions and of the community
at large.
It's venerable, erudite highly respected , genuine Brahmins like  you who are
the torch bearers of our
Social, cuktyral soiritual and ved ic heritage and our scriptures. In the true
traditions of our ancient rishis who shared their wealth of knowledge,
objectively,, WITHOUT self-projrction, WITHOUT prefixing or suffixing , WITHOUT
flaunting irrelevant meanunglex bureaucratic acronyms such as XYZ ABC 20823 s,
acronyms that may help a kongan find a bride in the KonguNadu Delta region, a
bride eho'll bring in a hefty dowry, but little else.
So respected Anna keep the titrents of kniwledge and wisdom flowing for us to
drink of.

Dear folks
Why does Rajaram K ex-IRS call Singapore a sin city?

Because:-

(1) when he visits the city as a brothel-keeper seeking clients for his
sex-worker mother he only prowls about looking for unlicensed cat-houses there.

(2) there are no licensed brothels in Singapore.

(3) instead, there are several reputed Hindu Temples in Singapore such as:-

(a) the Sivan temple where we the braahmanaas who have studied vedam hold
monthly rudra-ekaadashini sessions with abhishegams, annual mahaa-rudram
sessions, and rare athi-rudram sessions with all the prescribed formalities.
Plus, rarely, koti-archanai to Lord Shivan.  This temple was where my
Bheema-ratha shaanthi and my later sathaabhishegam were celebrated.

(b) the Senpaga Vinaayagar temple where we held the first-ever mahaa-rudram in
Southeast Asia with all the requisite rites and rituals, and where we used to
perform annual Vinaayaka Chathurthi homams.

(c) the Sreenivaasa Perumaal temple (formerly the Narasimha Perumaal Vishnu
temple) where we hold the annual r'g-veda and yajur-veda upaakarmams.

(d) the Thandaayutha-paani Subrahmania-svaami  temple where we perform annually
group sahasranaama archanais daily for six days during Skanda shashti.  And
where my eldest son's vivaaham was celebrated.  And where I have performed
countless shanmugha archanais over the years to the moola vigraham at the
innermost sanctum.

(e) the Shiva-Durggaa temple where we perform annually Durgaa-sahasranaama
archanai and Shiva thrishathi lakshaarchanai.

(f) the Manmatha-karuneshvara Shiva temple where we used to perform regular
pournami pooja with recitation of lalitha sahasranaamam.  And where I have
personally performed Shiva ashtothra archana to the installed shiva-linga
moola-vigraham.

(g) the Vairaavimada Kaaliamman temple where we perform annually
shaashtaa-preethi with shaashtaa sahasrananaama pooja and shaashtaa
lakshaarchanai.

(h) the Vel-Murugan temple where I used to carry paal-kaavadi every Thaippoosam.

(i) the Maariamman temple where every New Year's Day we perform navashakthi
lakshaarchanai in the innermost sanctum, occasional lakshaarchanai and, rarely,
koti-archanai.

(j) the Mahaa-maariamman temple where I have participated in the installation
and Kumbaabhishegam of deities, in annual nine-day shatha-Chandi yaagam during
navaraathri and, rarely, koti-archanai.

(k) the Sepoy Lines Siththi Vinaayaka temple where the chettiar community's
silver chariot carrying Lord Murugan's bimbam rests overnight before returning
to the Thendaayutha-paani temple on Thaippoosam Day morning.

(4) to his perverted mind all aazhvaars who sing praises of Lord Mahaa Vishnu
are not singers but sinners.

(5) to his perverted mind all naayanmaars who sing praises of Lord Shiva are
not singers but sinners.

(6) he kisses his wife's anus (instead of her mouth) and complains it stinks.

(7) he only inspects unflushed toilets when visiting homes, and complains the
whole house stinks.

(8) he has vast and frustrated experience in sin cities such as Red-dog Town
Chennaayi and Thanjaavoor where as self-styled NAYUNDA MAVEN (son of a dog) he
chases after female canines in heat, and looks for the same sport everywhere he
goes.
