CULTURAL QA 10202326A

Q1 Can you tell about one wonder of the past?

KR Ruins pf Persepolis: Persepolis, whose magnificent ruins rest at
the foot of Kuh-e Rahmat (Mountain of Mercy) in south-western Iran, is
among the world’s greatest archaeological sites. Renowned as the gem of
Achaemenid (Persian) ensembles in the fields of architecture, urban
planning, construction technology, and art, the royal city of Persepolis
ranks among the archaeological sites which have no equivalent and which
bear unique witness to a most ancient civilization. The city’s immense
terrace was begun about 518 BCE by Darius the Great, the Achaemenid
Empire’s king. On this terrace, successive kings erected a series of
architecturally stunning palatial buildings, among them the massive Apadana
palace and the Throne Hall (“Hundred-Column Hall”). Inspired by
Mesopotamian models, the Achaemenid kings Darius I (522-486 BCE), his son
Xerxes I (486-465 BCE), and his grandson Artaxerxes I (465-424 BCE) built a
splendid palatial complex on an immense half-natural, half-artificial
terrace.

We are anti-sanatanist because we always like Udayanidhi and
Stalin, speak ill of indoor scriptures unverified or extol the foreign
without aware of ourselves. Yet we say we present interesting topics for
whom? We cannot expand at any length but will criticise ISCKON.

There are 42 World Heritage Sites in India. Out of these, 34 are
cultural, seven are natural, and one, Khangchendzonga National Park
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khangchendzonga_National_Park>, is of mixed
type. India has the sixth-most sites
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Heritage_Sites_by_country> in the
world. The first sites to be listed were the Ajanta Caves
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajanta_Caves>, Ellora Caves
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellora_Caves>, Agra Fort
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agra_Fort>, and Taj Mahal
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal>, all of which were inscribed in
the 1983 session of the World Heritage Committee
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Heritage_Committee>. The most recent
sites listed were Santiniketan
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shantiniketan> and
the Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacred_Ensembles_of_the_Hoysalas>, in
2023. At different times, two sites were listed as endangered
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_Heritage_in_Danger>: the Manas
Wildlife Sanctuary <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manas_National_Park> was
listed between 1992 and 2011 due to poaching and activities of the Bodo
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boro_people> militias and the monuments at
Hampi <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampi> were listed between 1999 and
2006 due to risks from increased traffic and new constructions in
surroundings. One site is transnational: The Architectural Work of Le
Corbusier
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Architectural_Work_of_Le_Corbusier> is
shared with six other countries. In addition, India has 50 sites on its
tentative list.

           Nalanda Mahavihara was a Buddhist
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism> ancient higher-learning institution
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_higher-learning_institutions>
established
in the 5th century and lasting until its sacking in the 13th century,
though some archaeological remains also date back to the 3rd century BCE.
The remains include shrines and stupas <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stupa>
, *viharas* (residential and educational buildings), and art works in
different materials. Both the architectural solutions and educational
approaches were influential in other similar institutions in the broader
region. We lost 9 million volumes burnt for 3 montghs about which as an
Indian we do not speak but enlighten an Iranian opponent dynasty which had
a very bad history.

Q3 If lioness eat all her cubs, the lions will be extinct. Does it
mean that carnivores have love for their own?

https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna21790572

KR Royal society of England did research on cannibalism. And
listed a dozen reasons for animals to eat their own kids as food. And it is
funny the research on such trivial things. 5 senses have limited knowhow
and even 6 senses human in hunger forgets all the 10. Have we not read so
many mothers practicing the prostitution as an art with their daughters? So
many parents live on their children big earning, unmindful of their wards’
sufferings? So, eating their wards is animalistic quality and such human
are also animals. Then our B G teaches GUNA KARMA VIBAGA; Thamaso guna will
churn the mind for the oddities. However, the same cult has the rich
quality even among the animals, protecting their wards. Let us not waste
time on trivialities like royal society of England as they have our 5
digits millions with them to divert funds.

*CULTURAL QA 10-2023-26A*

*All the BELOW QA are from Quora digest to me on 26-10- 2023.*

*Quora answers need not be 100% correct answers *

*.Compiled* *and posted by R. Gopala krishnan, on 26-10-2023*

*Q1 Can you tell about one wonder of the past?*

*A1 Wonders of the Past, Posted by Alice G. 20h*

*The Ruins of Persepolis, the Capital of the Achaemenid Empire**. It was
founded by Darius I in 518 B.C. It was also one of the largest hubs in the
Persian Empire.*

*It was built on an immense half-artificial, half-natural terrace, where
the king of kings created an impressive palace complex inspired by
Mesopotamian models**. The importance and quality of the monumental ruins
make it a unique archaeological site.*

*Source: UNESCO Website*

*Q2 Is a charter plane or a non-scheduled airline similar?*

*A2 Saurabh Mall Seo Specialist at JetSetGo (2022–present)3h*

*Yes, a charter plane and a non-scheduled airline share similarities, but
they operate with distinct differences in terms of services and
flexibility.*

*A charter plane, often referred to as a private jet or charter aircraft,
is an aircraft that is rented for exclusive use by individuals, businesses,
or groups.* *Charter planes provide personalized and on-demand services,
allowing passengers to choose their departure times, destinations, and
aircraft types. JetsetGO, as a notable private aviation company,
specializes in offering charter plane services, ensuring a luxurious and
tailor-made travel experience for their clients.*

*On the other hand, a non-scheduled airline, also known as a charter
airline or non-scheduled air transport operator, operates flights that are
not part of regular scheduled services like commercial airlines.*

*Non-scheduled airlines provide chartered flights for specific routes or
groups of passengers**. While they offer more flexibility than traditional
airlines, they might operate within certain fixed schedules for the routes
they serve.*

*JetsetGO, with its focus on private jet charters,** exemplifies the
essence of charter plane services, prioritizing flexibility, luxury, and
personalized travel experiences for their clients. Whether it's for
business travel, leisure, or special occasions, JetsetGO provides a
seamless and premium charter plane service, making them a popular choice
for those seeking exclusive and convenient air travel options.*

*My note- The QA is selected for the difference between the two.*

*Q3 If lioness eat all her cubs, the lions will be extinct. Does it
mean that carnivores have love for their own?*

*A3 Alex Cooper,Animal enthusiast38m*

*No, it means if all lions did this there would cease to be lions after one
generation.*

*If any species did this they would die out in one generation.*

*As far as reproductive strategies go, it’s… not one.*

*The level of parental care varies among carnivores.** Many mammalian
carnivores depend on their parents for a long time as they need to learn
hunting techniques etc. On the other hand, most snakes will leave their
young to fend for themselves.*

*Level of parental care isn’t synonymous with ‘love’, though. I’ve
personally spoken to many snake mothers who were torn apart at leaving
their eggs but just didn’t think they could give them the life they
deserved.*

*Likewise, one lioness I talked to said: “I wish I could get rid of the
little freeloaders but they won’t leave.”*

*Animals do sometimes eat some of their young, for reasons scientists can’t
fully explain.* *Here’s a link to a study that used computer modelling to
introduce ‘filial cannibalism’ (eating one’s own offspring) into
populations of animals:*

*Why some animals eat their offspring*

*Eating your offspring may sound unthinkable, but animals from fish to
birds are known to do it.** Scientists have been unsure why such a behavior
would have evolved, but a new study sheds light on the factors that may
drive some parents to eat their young.*

*This is one argument for snacking on the fruits of your loins:*

* In some cases, cannibalizing their own young puts the same evolutionary
pressure on the eggs that a predator would: the faster the eggs develop,
the greater their chances of survival.*

*Munching on some of the slow-developing offspring would save the parent
the trouble of caring for these ‘inferior’** individuals and allow them to
save resources for babies with a better chance of survival.*

*I don’t fully understand this bit:*

* Cannibalism was also found to increase the parent's reproductive rate by
apparently increasing** mate attractiveness.*

*What a hunk. (Saturn Devouring His Son, by Goya)*

*Whatever the case, even animals that often eat their offspring don’t eat
all of their offspring all the time, as that would be a one-way ticket to
extinction.*

*Q4 What are the backward districts in Andhra Pradesh?*

*A4 Koushik Dammalapati, Knows Telugu17h*

*The most backward district in Andhra Pradesh is Alluri Sitharama Raju
district.*

*It has high tribal population and no urbanisation at all. It has the
lowest number of schools, banks, hospitals etc per 1 lakh people. Some
villages there don't have roads.*

*However it has huge potential to be developed as a good tourist spot
because of many beautiful places.*

*Maredumilli (2hrs from Rajahmundry)*

*Gudisa hill station (3 to 4 hrs from Rajahmundry)*

*Papikondalu (2 hrs from Rajahmundry)*

*Araku Valley (3 to 4 hrs from Visakhapatnam)*

*Lambasingi (2 to 3 hrs from Visakhapatnam) (Coldest place in South India)*

*Paderu (3 hrs from Visakhapatnam)*

*Borra Caves (3 hrs from Visakhapatnam)*

*Tyda (3 hrs from Visakhapatnam)*

*Matsyagundam (3 hrs from Visakhapatnam)*

*The next most backward districts are Kurnool,Nandyal,Anantapur and Sri
Satya Sai. All are drought prone.*

*Parvathipuram Manyam,Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Palnadu,Bapatla,
Prakasham,Annamayya are also backward.*

*The most developed districts in Andhra Pradesh are NTR and Visakhapatnam**.
Visakhapatnam is very polluted compared to NTR.*

*Q5 Who was the author of BC and AD?*

*A5 Matt Riggsby, MA Archaeological Studies, Boston University21h*

*There were two people involved.*

*The anno Domini system was created by a monk in the Balkans named
Dionysius Exiguus around the year we now call 525 AD**. However, his
intentions were largely forward-looking. He wanted to create a uniform
dating system to make it easier to calculate the dates of “moveable feasts”
like Easter (that is, day of special religious observances which could
float through the calendar rather than being fixed on specific dates; that
was a vastly bigger deal in early Christendom than you might believe) than
earlier methods. He wasn’t really thinking about deeper history. It wasn’t
until some time later that people started to assign dates before Christ to
historical events. Last I checked, the Venerable Bede, the noted early
British historian working nearly 200 years after Dionysius, was the first
person to date things to specific years before Christ, extending
Dionysius’s work into the past rather than just the future.*
