Thanks J for the chaati Puja. The real festival is in the north and the
northerners living in the south as Kartik festival concerning shati mata ,
described by me elsewhere yesterday in Q and A, gets proliferated as these
words which are SHASTI changed or corrupted. As a matter of fact in the
north hereafter the winter sets in unlike our rain after and pongal
followed by summer. SUN god worship is the origin and Usha the beginning
sun rise and Pratyusha dusk are 2 days out of 4 days. Sashti mata skanda is
also added in this. The end of the agriculture festival as in TN Pongal is
celebrated for 4 days. SUN is sent off; and invited back as Makara
sankaranthi in jan. In short it is believed to ne feminine but only a
neutral gender festival. Jharkhand is full of festival and 19th Nov 23 is a
Govt holiday. KRIRS161123

Thanks for the detailed information.

Do Tamils give any importance to this festival?
