Q1      Whichmammal can hold its breath the longest?

A1      Ian O'Grady     ,Studied TV and Film Production Updated Aug 5

Here’s a list of animals that can hold their breaththe longest, starting
fromshortest, to insanely long periods of time.

Hippo’s can holdtheir breath for 5 minutes. Kind of disappointing considering
the amount of time theyspend in the water.

Dolphins can holdtheir breath for 10 minutes, again not that great considering
the live in the water.

Seal lions canhold their breath for 20 minutes, fun fact, Sea lions are closer
to being bears then theirname might suggest.

Penguins can holdtheir breath for up to half hour and they do that by slowing
their heart rates down toabout 3 beats per minute, and they have more
haemoglobin than we do.

Sloths can holdtheir breaths for up to 40 minutes, to be fair their ancestors
were giant marine sloths.Interesting, because you would think something that
lives in the ocean couldhold its breath longer.

Sperm whales canhold their breath for up to 2 hours and it could be longer if
they weren't battling giantsquids down there.

Sea turtles canhold their breath for up to 5 to 7 hours, and most of that’s
while they’re asleep.

Sea Snakes, forsome 8 hours.Although the fact they can breath  through their
skin helps.

Spiders can holdtheir breath for up to 40 hours. In an experiment a Wolf Spider
came back to life after 40hours under water by going into a state of suspended
animation.

Scorpions hold thecrown as they can hold their breath for an amazing 6 days.
Their modified lungs, whichare known as book lungs, allows them to hold their
breath for long periods at atime.

My note- Though the question was aboutmammals, the answer include other beings
also. For information sake I have selected the question.

Q2      How muchlonger can life forms continue on Earth? Humans are nearly 8
billion. TheEarth's resources and infrastructure can't support an infinite
number.Colonizing "space" isn't feasible. What is a realistic solution?
Thiscan't go on forever.

A2      MatsAnderson, B. Sc, M. Sc from Uppsala University Aug 26

I have a bookdown in my bookshelf, written by a Professor of Technology in
cooperation with a whole bunchof other knowledgeable people.

It predicts thatby 2000, at the very latest, there will be very restrictive
food rationing all overthe world, and by 2020, the Great Dying will be well
underway, wherethe 16 billion people on the planet will have to be reduced to
about 3-4 billionover a time period of 20 years, by war, starvation, and/or
disease.

The book was written in 1970. It obviously didn’thappen. The author made two
mistakes.

The first onewas to assume that world population would simply continue to grow
unrestricted. What we have seen since, andwhat should really have been possible
for them to figure out, was that there is a strong link betweenpopulation
growth and poverty. In rich countries, people opt to have fewer children, and by
now, large parts of the world actually have negative natural growth, without any
restrictions being imposed.

Worldpopulation is now projected to peak at 10 billion a few decades from now,
andthen start to slowly fall.

And advances inagriculture has made a larger population sustainable long term;
maybe not 10billion but probably well over 6.

The second onewas to assume that no technology could ever be made more
efficient than it wasin 1970, and thatonce you’ve extracted a resource from the
ground, it is spent and gone. Today, your average car runs twiceas far on the
same amount of petrol, weighs half of what a car from 1970weighed – and muchof
the material is recycled or recyclable; the only thing in that book that dealt
with recycling wasan afterthought that just maybe, copper could be stretched to
last longer sinceit might be possible to recycle some of it from old cabling.
(Thatcopper cables could be mostly replaced by fibre and wireless was
completelybeyond a Professor of Technology.)

A realisticsolution? Renewable energy and recycling, plus there being fewer of
us. There is only oneresource that we are definitely going to run out of, and
that’s helium – theatoms are light enough to escape into space. All other
materials are actually still here whenwe’ve used them, and they are all
recyclable provided you put energy in,because all chemical processes are
reversible.

And once helium becomes rare enough, it’s going to beprofitable to figure out a
replacement for the processes where it’s neededtoday.

Q3      What doyou wish everyone should have?

A3      ManuPandey,22 Years Old.19h

Take a needle and poke yourself.A little blood mightcome out of your
finger. That pain might not be hurting you that much. That little pain is
bearable.

Now, do the same thing with a small child and you’ll see him screaming at the
topof his lungs.

Saw something? Eventhough the pain is the same but different reactions.

The same goes for the emotional pain as well.Different people take
painsdifferently.

I have seen people standing straight even afterlosing their parents but someone
couldn’t even take a simple rejection from agirl.

Some people become well after a breakup and somestart destroying themselves by
indulging in smoking and alcohol.

Same pain,different reactions.

What do I wish everyone should have?Ability tounderstand what should be taken
seriously and what in jest.

It’s not worth crying for a girl or a boy who cheatedon you. It’s all about
understanding what is under your control, and what’swithin your power. It may
sound hard but it’s actually not.

My note- Except the analogy, other things told iscorrect. The piercing pain on
tender skin and grownup finger are different.

Keralamand Zee Tamil, where mother of the business lady telling – There
isdifference in hot water pouring  andaccidentally falling. Pain is different.

Q5      Which isthe nearest planet to Earth?

A5      BryanDijkhuizen, Reading and watching about Space since 2007Aug 7

The answer to this question is not as straightforwardas you might think.

If you askanyone which planet is the closest to Earth, the most popular answer
will beVenus. This isbecause Venus can get closer to Earth than any other
planet in the solarsystem. At its closestapproach, Venus is only 25 million
miles away from Earth.

However, Venus isnot always the closest planet to Earth. In fact, on average,
Mercury is theclosest planet to Earth.

This is becauseMercury has the smallest orbit of any planet in the solar
system. Its orbit takes it around the Sun in just 88 days, compared to
Venus's225 days. This means that Mercury spends more time closer to Earth than
Venusdoes.

So, which planetis the closest to Earth? It depends on how you define "closest."

If you mean theplanet that can get the closest to Earth, then the answer is
Venus.

However,if you mean the planet that spends the most time closest to Earth, then
theanswer is Mercury.

Q6      What aresome of the signs and symptoms of kidney failure?

A6      PunarjanAyurveda,20 years of experience 3h

Kidney failureoccurs when your kidneys can't effectively clean your blood; as a
result, harmful substances accumulate inside your body.

Signs of kidneyfailure:

Fatigue: Feeling like you have no energy.

Swelling: Ankles, feet, or hands getting bigger because of extrafluids.

Urinating differently: Either peeing less or having to go a lot, especially at
night.

Red or brown urine: Your pee might look pink or brown.

High blood pressure: High blood pressure happens when the kidneys arenot
functioning normally.

Nausea and vomiting: Having tummy problems and not wanting to eat.

Hard to breathe: Having trouble catching your breath because ofextra fluid in
your body.

Confusion: Your brain doesn't work as well, and it's tough to focus.

Edema, drowsiness, black urine, or decreased urineproductionare signs of renal
failure and require immediate medical intervention

My note- The QA is added for information ofdiabetics. However kidney failure
can happen to any person. Once a while drop of blood in urine or urine not
coming though urinating sensation is there cannot be sign of renal failure.

Q7      What aresome common misconceptions about Draupadi from the epic
'Mahabharatha'?

A7      Admirerof Mahabharata, Bookworm, nature lover, travel enthusiast. Nov 18

Draupadi wasn'tfair-skinned as she's often shown in TV serials. Her original
name was Krishna because she was dark-skinned.

Draupadi wasn'tan unwanted child. She was warmly welcomed and happily accepted
by Drupada. In fact, Drupadawanted a daughter to get her married to Arjuna.

Draupadi didn'tmeet Arjuna and Krishna before her swayamvara (self-choice
ceremony) like it was shown in StarPlus Mahabharata.

Krishna didn'task Draupadi to choose Arjuna at swayamvara.

Draupadi didn'treject Karna at swayamvara. According to all authentic versions,
Karna failed to string the bow. So, the popularphrase “I won't marry a
sutpurta” (I won't marry a charioteer’s son) is nothingbut the brainchild of
modern day authors and soap opera directors. She had noright to reject anyone
since she was a “viryashulka”.

It wasn'tDraupadi’s decision to get married to the five Pandavas. Infact,
nobody asked for herpermission for marriage.

Bhishma andother Kuru elders didn't have any problem with Draupadi's marriage
with five Pandavas.Polygamy and polyandry were acceptable practices back then.

Draupadi didn'tbar other queens from entering Indraprastha. Arjuna sent
Subhadra in cowmaid dress tokeep the peace. Other wives of the Pandavas used to
live in Indraprastha beforetheir exile.

Draupadi nevercursed dogs or anyone else.

Draupadi nevercalled Duryodhana “Andhe ka Putra andha” (A blind man’s is blind
too). This line has been takenfrom a play. When Duryodhana fell into a pool by
mistake, shewasn't even present there.

Draupadi nevercursed the Kuru clan after her humiliation at the dice hall.

Draupadi didn'ttake any oath of washing her hair with Dushasana’s blood.
Neither did she leave her hairopen.

Draupadi didn'tlaugh at Bhishma on his death bed.

There was nocat fight between Kunti and Draupadi. In fact, Kunti used to love
Draupadi more than her ownsons. She supported the war because she wanted
Pandavas to avenge Draupadi'shumiliation.

Draupadi didn'thave any feelings for Karna. Karna was directly involved in her
humiliation at thedice hall. No sane and self-respecting woman would admire
someone that callsher a “wh**e” and orders her disrobement in an open hall.

Draupadi nevercursed Hidimbi or her son Ghatotkacha.

Draupadi wasn'ta rude, arrogant, vengeful and bloodthirsty women as she's often
portrayed in themainstream media. She forgave her husbands for staking her,
Jayadratha forabducting her and Ashwatthama for killing her five sons. She’s
been describedas a humble, virtuous and sweet speeched woman by multiple
characters throughoutthe epic.

Draupadi didn'tknow the aftermath of the war. Neitherwas she responsible for
the war. The kurukshetra war was fought for theestablishment of Dharma, peace
and justice.

Draupadi didn'ttie any bracelet to Abhimanyu for his protection and well-being
in the war.

Draupadi usedto be a close friend of Shri Krishna and His wife Devi Satyabhama.
She didn't have anyromantic attraction towards Krishna.

Edit:- My points are based on Vysa’s Mahabharata (KMGand BORI CE)
