· Historians say it was built over three time-periodsranging from 1100
A.D. to 1800 A.D.
· Sri Veerabhadra temple, also known asLepakshi Temple is located in
LEPAKSHI Village, SriSatyaSai District;named after a main shrine dedicated to
Veerabhadra(the fiery incarnation of Lord Shiva). “Le Pakshi” లేపాక్షి —
meaning “Arise, bird” in Telugu. LEPAKSHIin Andhra Pradesh is also attributed
as the place where JATAYU fellafter being wounded by Ravana. It is believed
thatJatayu followedRavana till the end of land and fell on a hill in
Chadayamangalam, Kerala where he breathed his last. Thespot where Jatayu fell
the first time is now known as the Lepakshi temple.Rama is said to have
commanded the bird to rise, sayingLe Pakshi (literally: "Get up, Bird" in
Telugu), hence the name forthe village.It is famous for its architecture
characterised by hanging pillars and cavechambers that can astound ONE! Once
theessence of Vijayanagara Empire, Lepakshi is culturally and
archaeologicallysignificant as it acts as the prime location of the shrine
dedicated toVeerabhadra.
· TheHanging Pillar is one of the 70 pillars in the temple, but it is the
mostfamous and unique of them all. The Hanging Pillar appears to be suspended
inmid-air, as it is not attached to the ground like the other pillars in
thetemple.
· A prominent feature is a magnificent seated Nandi, a colossalmonolithic
structure in granite, complete with ornaments, garlands and bells.It is
considered to be one of the largest of its kind in India.
· Thefresco paintings include that of Shiva-Parvati Kalyanam,
KIRATARJUNEEYAM, a much-liked Krishna whoseems to look back directly at you
from whichever direction you view him.
· The temple dates back to 1583 and was built by the brothers, Virupanna
andVeeranna, who were initially in the service of theVijayangar kings.
· The temple found a place on the tentative UNESCO World HeritageSites
list in 2022 with UNESCO calling it a masterpiece of creative effort.Lepakshi
temple has also been designated a monument of national importance bythe
Archaeological Survey of India. said that “the temple preservesimportant
examples of Vijayanagara sculptures and paintings, and is a uniqueexample of
continuity of traditions, creative ideas and knowledge of Chalukyas,Hoyas alas,
and Kakatiyas combined with local customs.”
· Modion Tuesday inaugurated the new campus of National Academy of
Customs, IndirectTaxes & Narcotics (NACIN) at Palasamudram in Sri Sathya Sai
District ofAndhra Pradesh. Acknowledging the atmosphere of Ram Bhakti pervading
the country.The Prime Minister said that the very idea of Ram Rajya is the
notion behindtrue democracy. He highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s life experience as

· SriRanganatha Ramayanamu (Telugu: శ్రీ రంగనాథ రామాయణము श्री रंगनाथ
रामायनमु)isa translation of Valmiki's Ramayana in the Telugu language. It was
written bythe poet Ranganatha – also known as Gona Budda Reddy – between 1300
and 1310AD. It was composed in 17,290 couplets (in Dvipada metre). The stanzas
arelyrical and can either be read like the Valmiki Ramayana (written in
Anustupavameter) or sung like the Ramcharitmanas (written in couplet-chaupai).
