Q2             Since half of the Earth is day and half is night, whathappens if
I go to where the day and night meet?

A2             RichardMuller, Prof. Physics UC Berkeley, author "Physics for
FuturePresidents" Updated 4y

Go to the placewhere day and night meet, and you will see one of the most
spectacular sightsavailable on Earth. I call it “an eclipse of theEarth”, in
analogy to the eclipses of the Moon and of the Sun. Morecommonly, it’s called a
sunrise or sunset. It is one of the most beautifulthings you’ll ever see.
Thiseclipse changes rapidly with time; it is exciting to watch. I attach oneof
the photos I’ve taken. I’ve seen four solar eclipses, and many lunareclipses,
and for sheer beauty, they don’t really compare.

It is worthtraveling a thousand miles to see this. Fortunately, you don’t have
to. Except at regions near the poles, ithappens twice each day. Remarkably,
because it is more common than solaror lunar eclipses, many people in the path
don’t bother watching it! Itrequires a good view of the horizon, and many
people either sleep through it ordon’t bother going to a spot with a clear view.

Don’t miss it! It is beautiful and thrilling.

Q3             What are some of the most mind-blowing facts?

A3             Kartike,Livesin IndiaUpdated 6y

Our smartphone contains many elements present on earthand one of them is
“INDIUM”.

This is one of the most special element present onearth.

Key smartphone 'ingredients' could soon run out -Futurity

Mix it with Tinand Oxygen it forms Indium Tin Oxide, a Transparent Electric
Conductor andthat’s how you make the Touch Screen.

Touch screentechnology is used by all Mobile phones, tablets and touch
devicesmanufacturing companies.

But there is one high alert, a real Problem.

There is only a tiny sprinkling of Indium in everySmartphone, approximately
0.02g. But we buy a billion of smartphones a year, that is a big number.

If we add in all the other Indium using devices likeTablets, other Flat Screen
Devices or any other electronic devices that useIndium, we get a numberof 700
tonnes that we need every year.

But in 2008, US geological estimated that there wasonly 16000 tonnes of Indium
available.

If that wasright, at the rate of 700 tonnes per year we would be running out of
Indium inthe next decade.

Q4             How did the emergency plane landing on the Hudson Rivernot sink
into the water?

A4             RebeccaWilliams,Aviation lover.19h

US Airwaysflight 1549 did not sink into the Hudson River after an emergency
landing onJanuary 15, 2009. The pilot, Capt. Sullenberger had to land the plane
on the water becauseboth engines weredamaged by a flock of geese. This was a
very risky maneuver, but he succeeded in saving all 155people on board.

The plane did notsink into the water because it was designed to survive a water
landing, and thepilot followed the right procedures. The plane had a strong
hull, a water-tight seal, alight fuel tank, and a ditching switch that
protected it from water damage. Thepilot also had to align the plane with the
river, adjust the speed and theangle, deploy the flaps and the slats, keep the
nose up, and brace thepassengers and the crew for impact.

The planestayed afloat for about 20 minutes, enough time for everyone to escape
and berescued. The plane was later towed and recovered. It is now on displayat
a museum in North Carolina, where you can learn more about this amazingincident

Q5             Whyis aviation fuel less expensive than petrol?

A5             RebeccaWilliams, Aviation lover.19h

Aviation fuelis a type of fuel that is used in jet engines, which are common in
commercial andmilitary aircraft. It is verysimilar to kerosene or naphtha,
which are derived from crude oil. It has a lower freezing point,a higher flash
point, and a lower viscosity than petrol, which makes it moresuitable for
high-altitude and high-temperature conditions. Aviationfuel also has a lower
octane rating than petrol, which means it has less resistance to ignitionand
combustion.

Petrol is a type offuel that is used in internal combustion engines, which are
common in cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles. It is a mixture of hydrocarbons
that are derivedfrom crude oil. Petrol has a higher freezing point, a lower
flash point, and ahigher viscosity than aviation fuel, which makes it more
suitable forlow-altitude and low-temperature conditions. Petrol also has a
higher octanerating than aviation fuel, which means it has more resistance to
ignition andcombustion.

One of the mainreasons why aviation fuel is less expensive than petrol is the
difference inthe refining process. Refining crude oil involves separating and
transforming thevarious components of the oil into different products, such as
gas, naphtha, heavy oils, and residues. Petrol is a lighter and more refined
product thanaviation fuel, which means it requires more energy and resources to
produce. Italso has more additives and specifications than aviation fuel, which
increasesits cost and quality.

The demand for petrol is much higher than the demand foraviation fuel,
especially in the consumer market. Petrol is used by millions ofvehicles every
day, while aviation fuel is used by thousands of aircraft everyday. The supply
of petrol is also more limited than the supply of aviationfuel, especially in
some regions and seasons. Petrol issubject to more taxes and regulations than
aviation fuel, which affects itsprice and availability.
