Thozhal begins at 3 AM. Since the time of sunrise varies , the time has been
fixed as 6 AM for the convenience of the devotees who come from far off places.
Nirmalayam means used /remains. In temples it means yesterday's.Nirmalyam
Thozhal is worshiping the deity in yesterday's decoration. Smilar to the
vishukkaineettam, the English have " Handsel Monday" which on the first Monday
of the year[ January]. Similar to the Vishukkani they have " The First
Footing". The first person to visit on the beginning of the year [ January 1st].
