 Thanks.
Q 5
This reminded me of a w app fwd that said
"We  now have bigger houses but smaller families"  and went on to list so many
paradoxes of modern life.
What is stated in the reply can be added to that list of paradoxes.
Someone said he curses the guy who invented the refrigerator as he is now
forced to eat old dishes only, especially if both the husband and wife go to
work.
Modern day gadgets are not an unmixed blessing.
What we fail to realize is another fwd I read (attributed to the Dalai Lama)
that said
" We are very desperate to earn more and more money ignoring our health, but
later we spend the same money to restore our health".

Q1             What is the funniest joke you'vebeen told that you still think
about to this day?

A1             AlkisPiskas, Lover of Philosophy, Logic and Math Mar 29

I just read a very good joke with God and it made me think ofone of my
favourite ones:

A man gets back home in his car with a very urgent need tovisit the toilet. But
he couldn’t find any place to park, so he started prayingintensely: “God, do
something for a place to be evacuated so that I can park …Please! It’s very
urgent! If you do that, I will then do whatever you ask meto!”

After a few seconds, someone un-parked, leaving a vacantplace. The man said:
“It’s OK God. Never mind. I found one.”

Q2             Why did Brahmins not allow Shudrato study for 2,000 years?

A2             RavikumarK., Self employed (2019–present)Dec 21

1.Why did Kshatriyas not allow Brahmins to get training inwarfare, keeping arms
and study martial arts for 3000 years?

2.Why did Vaishyas not allow Brahmins to do business for 5000years?

3.Why did Shudras not allow Brahmins to learn to farmingarts, sculpturing, pot
preparing, carpentering ,iron work etc. since 10000years?

4.How did Dr. B R Ambedkar, the Dalit scholar study in 19 thcentury, if
Brahmins and others not allow?

It was the duty of British government, Moghul government,Khilji government,
Gulami government, Chavan government, Guptagovernment,Mourya government and all
ancient kings' governments (Not a singleone belongs to Brahmins!) to provide
education to all their citizens.

What is the role of Brahmins here, who were never in power?!

When I meet smart people — I make two assessments, one isquick, the other
requires some one-on-one discussion.

FIRST:

To what degree do they see the world as zero-sum? Are theyprimarily
self-interested? This greatly affects my willingness to engage withthem at all.

Unfortunately, we live in world in which it is consideredquite OK for smart
people to tilt interactions (such as a business deal) intheir own favor. Smart
people find it relatively easy to fool the less-smartand thereby separate them
from their money. And, because we tolerate this as asociety, income asymmetry
continues to grow and our world becomes aless-and-less friendly place to be.

Who created themodern business-model behind Payday Loans? (not the counter
staff!) — And atSubway, why does 8% of gross sales go directly to Wall St. for
every singlesandwich made-&-sold in N.America? Why do we tolerate this??

I try to avoid people like these —

— the go-getters, the zero-summers, those hypnotized bywealth —

I also do thisgenerally — not just with smart people. But it is especially
good to becautious around anybody “who fancies themselves smart enough to take
advantageof others.” What is something that people with genius level IQs see in
peoplethat most people don't see?

SECOND:

Assuming I choose to interact with someone, fairly quickly Iget a sense of just
how smart he/she is:

Tier I: IQ from 130 to 140

Tier II: IQ from 140 to 150

Tier III: IQ of 150+

With Tier I persons — I can have useful stimulatingdiscussions. They will
understand the problem I am concerned with, even if theydo not understand my
proposed solution. Talking about the problem helps both ofus to understand it
better.

With Tier II persons — As above, except they will follow bothdiscussions
(problem and possible solutions) well-enough to offer usefulcriticism and
insight.

With Tier III persons— We move very quickly beyond theproblem/solution
framework and into the kind of speculative thinking (bothcreative & critical)
which I adore. Occasionally, we are able to view andunderstand the original
problem from a novel angle, gaining entirely newinsight into possible
solutions. David Miller has a poetic alternative-way ofdescribing “the view”
from Tier III.[1]

Of course, conversation is not always so scientific.Sometimes we are just
joking around — yet the same kinds of distinctions becomeapparent. The smarter
the person, the deeper (and more subtle) their insight& humor.[2]

Are these two assessments correlated?

I would like to imagine that they are correlated. Namely, that the smarter a
person is — the freer that person becomes from the pursuitsof wealth and narrow
self-interest.

Sadly, however, this does not seem so. The majority of theTier I and Tier II
people that I have met (and I have met many hundreds) doindeed seem to be
greatly distracted by the pursuit of personal wealth.

On the other hand, I have not known enough Tier III people toassess their
relative degree of freedom — but I can say that some remainzero-summers.

Q4             Why are naidus in Tamil Naduclaiming themselves as Tamilians
rather than Telugu people?

A4             B.Janarthanan, Updated May 11

I was born in a village in Virudhunagar district of southtamilnadu. All people
in our entire village speak Thelungu ( not telugu),meaning that our Telugu has
much influence of Tamil. But we don't know Teluguto read and write. We don't
even know our origin in Andhra pradesh. We mighthave migrated to Tamilnadu
during Krishna devarayor period. But our mothertongue is still Telugu. There
are many villages in Tamilnadu, where the entirevillage people will be Telugu
speaking.

Q5             How foolish we are becoming?

A5             ChauhanBabu Nath,21h

1. Earlier we used to buy tomatoes for ten rupees per kg andeat fresh chutney.

Now we eat two-month old tomato sauce at Rs 150 per kg.

2. Earlier we did not drink even one day old water, nowadayswe drink three
months old bottles worth Rs 20.

3. Earlier we used to drink fresh milk in the morning andevening. Nowadays we
drink five day old bagged milk in the name of amu taja.

4. Earlier we used to drink fresh juice, now we drink 6months old artificial
juice in the name of real..

5. Earlier we used to drink fresh Jaljeera, now we drink twomonths old cold
drink for Rs 60 a litre.

6. Cashews and almonds worth 500 or 700 kilos, which increasethe immunity of
the body, seem expensive to us, but a pizza made from rottenflour worth 400
kilos seems cheap to us.

7. Earlier we did not eat the food prepared in the morningeven in the evening
and now we eat stale food prepared by companies with greatenthusiasm.

Whereas we know that many types of chemicals are added to theready-made items
made by companies under the beautiful name of preservatives.

Are we progressing or destroying? Are we becoming wise now orstupid?
