Education in the School of Free Ecology

Before the walls of stone were raised,
Before the bells and clocks,
The forest held its quiet school
Among the roots and rocks.

The river wrote its silver lines
Across the patient land,
And every leaf that touched the sun
Held wisdom in its hand.

There every bird was teacher,
Every wind a gentle guide,
The mountains spoke of patience,
And the oceans breathed of tide.

The ant explained cooperation,
The bee revealed the art of care,
The forest taught abundance
To those who chose to hear and share.

No organism was excluded,
No life too small to learn,
The moss upon a shaded stone
Had truths for us to earn.

Education was attention,
A listening heart made still,
To feel the pulse of living earth
Beyond the human will.

But then we built our towers high
Of numbers, steel, and speed,
And called it knowledge, though the soil
Lay silent in its need.

We trained our minds for markets,
For profit, power, and control,
While forests lost their ancient songs
That once had shaped the soul.

Yet still the open meadow waits,
The river does not cease,
Inviting every living form
Into its school of peace.

Where love becomes the language,
And freedom is the rule,
And life itself—unbound, alive—
Remains the truest school.

For when we learn from living earth,
>From root and wing and sea,
Education finds its heart again—
In *Free Ecology*. 🌿
