I need help! Below I have listed as many things as I can think of. My guppies keep dying, if they last more than 2 weeks I am lucky.
1. 10g rectangular tank 2. keep in kitchen (could this be this problem?) I am willing to move the tank to another room. 3. temperature-80-81 4. ammonia, nitrates, nitrites normal 5. ph-water a little hard but there are 4 tanks in the house that use the same water. This is the only one with problems. 6. Current occupants-2 male guppies and 1 candy-striped pleco. 7. tank set up in Sept 2009. Problems since beginning. 8. decor-driftwood for pleco, WW2 tank and plastic plant. Nothing new. 9. platy has died in this tank. 10. common pleco has died in this tank. 11. when I left this morning, both guppies were hovering under the filter outflow. 12. tank setup is from petco. filter is Aqueon 10. 13. water change every 7-10 days 14. salt and dechorinator is added each change. 15. it's understood that guppies bought from lfs arent meant for long life but surely more than 2 weeks!!! 16. male guppies only-prettier. 17. last 2 deaths-this morning and last night had clamped tail fins. Deaths prior to this the guppies start hugging the bottom and have decreased appetiate. Top fins are down and they sometimes start shimmying from side to side but not always. 18. no sign of disease or injury on ANY of the deceased. 19. have purchased guppies from 3 lfs and Petco. Same problems with all. That's all I can think. If anyone has any suggestion about what could be going on, I would really appreciate the help. I want 10-15 guppies in that tank. Thanks, Mary
