Martin I think Andrew is referring to a Total Station survey, though I presume that data from an old fashioned theodolite would look much the same. What he needs, I guess, is an automatic way of correcting (calibrating?) the horizontal angles with regard to North when the traverse is connected in to fixed points at either end.
