I did not pursue this during the holidays. Now that Therion 6.3.3 is out, it is probably time to dig into it a bit deeper.

I downloaded Therion 6.3.3 from the git repository, compiled and installed it. No errors, that all went very smoothly.

Loch still does not run in a Wayland session. It gives a segmentation error and dumps core within about 2 seconds of launching.

I tried it on three different machines. They all have the same basic configuration. All three fail in the same way.

SCINU reports that Loch works in a Wayland session running on Debian Testing. I am on Fedora 41. Something is different, but I have no idea what it is. Could it be a different version of xwayland?

A bit more information about my system:

Confirmed - This problem has something to do with Wayland. I logged
into a test computer using X instead of Wayland. Loch starts without
error. Logging out and back in with a Wayland session causes loch to fail.

Hmm, no problem in the Wayland session with KDE on Debian Testing (and
no problem in the X session, either). Any other Wayland users here
that could report crashes or good operation?

With a fresh install from the AUR (archlinux user repository) loch
starts without problems on both X and wayland (sway).

therion 6.3.1 (2024-11-22)
   - using Proj 9.5.0, compiled against 9.5.0

loch 6.3.1
(why is loch --version not implemented?)

If I can help test more, pls let me know

Best,

Scinu
