Thanks martin, that makes sense. I thought I had a recent snapshot, but not recent enough.
I installed Therion 67248d35 and set it up for Luatex. It compiled a small test project, but fails to render the png background sketches and reports this warning. C:\Program Files\Therion\therion.exe: warning -- unable to read D:/CaveSurvey/th_Canaan/150Tomo/./ptopo/1- 50TomoPlanSketch-300-02of02-transparent.png -- Magick: NoDecodeDelegateForThisImageFormat `D:/CaveSurvey/th_Canaan/150Tomo/./ptopo/1-50TomoPlanSketch-300-02of02-transparent.png' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/739 Reverting my therion.ini and application back to Therion d6d9a18f all is well again. So for now I will pause my luatex adventure until the recent round of Therion edits settles down. Since the string “decode” turns up in my error and features in recent commits, I expect they are the culprit. Should I create an issue on github, or will this message be sufficient to prompt another look at decode?
