Hi Pat We migrated our DB from utf8 to utf8mb4 recently. So, we modified the encoding in database.yml to utf8mb4.
Because of the code in https://github.com/pat/thinking-sphinx/blob/cf16d18285e57e72d79234ec37ac8a5aa301296b/lib/thinking_sphinx/active_record/sql_source.rb#L17, the accented characters are now not getting indexed. I have handled this by adding the following line to my ts-indices. *set_property utf8?: true* Is this the right way to go about it!?
