It has become very difficult to boot my ancient T23.
I have to squeeze the laptop where the hard disk is situated,
or perhaps at the right-hand end of this, over the CMOS battery.

I thought the problem might be the CMOS battery,
and replaced it, but that did not seem to affect things;
however, the replacement battery was even older,
so this may not prove anything.

This is only Thinkpad no 5, so it will be no great loss
if it is dispatched to the Great Recycler.

But if anyone has had a similar experience,
I'd very much like to hear if there is a simple cure.
