Question for wiser and more experienced heads than mine. I have a T60<http://forum.notebookreview.com/autolink.php?id=82&script=showthread&forumid=2>(2623 D6U) purchased in 2005, still just barely under warranty. Two hardware problems have developed.
1) Odd, indelible spots under or on the LCD bezel. Not stains or dirt - a 'water stain' appearance. The LCD itself looks unaffected; all pixels seem alive. The spots are barely visible when backlit. 2) Optical drive no longer recognized by the system; I pulled it out, placed it back, uninstalled it in device manager, rebooted. No go. Lenovo Tech support feels it needs to be replaced, system board checked, etc. The question is: What is Lenovo's current EZ Serv reputation? I have the option of carrying in to an authorized service rep. in NYC. There was a time when I would have felt EZ serv was the sounder bet, but...one hears a lot of stories. Advice?
