Hello all, this is to give a follow-up of my previous request for help in choosing a firewall to replace the AVG firewall, which had been giving me continuing troubles.
Thanks to all who replied, both in the list and by private emails. I finally settle on the free edition of Online Armor. Installation is pretty straightforward, with an installation wizard taking you through the various steps. You are required to tell Online Armor which programs can be trusted to get access to internet. After that it is relatively hassle-free. I am so far quite pleased with this replacement. Others have mentioned other firewalls but Online Armor is the first one I try my hands on and is working well, so I haven't tried the others. I have also taken this opportunity to remove the AVG suite altogether. For antivirus I use the free edition of Avira, and it is also working quite uneventfully. I haven't detected any incompatibilities between Online Armor and Avira.
