What is your IE cache set to? It tends to default to a huge number, and after a 
while, IE slows down because it's spending tons of cycles managing the cache. 
In extreme cases, I've seen the cache get so huge that you can't use the Back 
button, because doing so always results in "not found" as IE fails to find the 
page in its (now-huge and probably damaged) cache.

Easy test: clear the cache and see if it goes away. I set it to 5 or 10MB *max* 
on my machines, and it's fine. (Well, I did when I used IE; now that I use 
Firefox, I set that low, too.)
